How do I become CSPO certified?

You become CSPO certified by attending and completing an approved CSPO course delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer. There is no exam. After the course you accept the Scrum Alliance licence agreement to activate your credential.

How long is the CSPO certification valid?

CSPO is valid for two years from the date of course completion. Your two-year Scrum Alliance membership runs alongside it and is required to keep the credential active.

How do I renew my CSPO certification?

You renew CSPO every two years by earning 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and paying the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee. SEUs can be earned through training, conferences, coaching, self-study and other learning activities.

Who delivers the CSPO certification?

The CSPO credential is awarded by Scrum Alliance. The course must be delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer, which keeps the curriculum aligned to the official CSPO learning objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

What happens after I complete the course?

After completing the course you receive the CSPO credential directly from Scrum Alliance, along with a digital badge and a two-year membership. You can then use the credential and apply your product ownership skills at work straight away.

What topics does the CSPO training cover?

The training covers Scrum theory and values, the Product Owner role and accountability, product vision and the Product Goal, Product Backlog management, stakeholder collaboration and value, and release planning and forecasting, all aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSPO learning objectives.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to define a product vision, set a Product Goal, create and order a Product Backlog, write effective user stories, engage stakeholders, run Sprint Reviews and plan incremental releases that maximise value.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest Scrum Guide?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Scrum Guide and the Scrum Alliance CSPO learning objectives, including the Product Goal as the commitment of the Product Backlog introduced in the 2020 Scrum Guide.

Are there practical exercises in the CSPO course?

Yes. The course is activity-led, with hands-on exercises in user story writing, backlog ordering, prioritisation and stakeholder engagement so you practise the Product Owner role on realistic product scenarios.

How long is the CSPO training?

CSPO is typically delivered over two days of live, instructor-led training, available in live virtual or classroom formats. The schedule is designed so working professionals can attend and complete the course within a short, focused window.
