    The programme covers Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and kanban, Just-in-Time, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Lean culture.

    What are the eight wastes covered in the course?

    The eight wastes, known by the acronym DOWNTIME, are Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilised talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion and Extra processing. You learn to identify and eliminate each on the production floor.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

    Yes. The day includes practical exercises: a Gemba waste walk, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, an OEE calculation and a kanban sizing exercise, all applied to realistic manufacturing scenarios.

    How long is the training?

    The programme runs for one day, a total of eight hours, and can also be delivered as two half-days. It covers the full Lean manufacturing toolkit with concept explanations, case studies and hands-on exercises throughout.

    Is the content suitable for non-manufacturing operations?

    Largely, yes. While the focus is manufacturing, tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping and waste elimination transfer well to logistics, healthcare operations and service delivery environments too.
