    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The exam is an open-book, objective test delivered by PeopleCert, either online proctored through OnVUE or at an authorised test centre. It requires specialist analysis and professional judgement applied to realistic assessment scenarios, not simple recall.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The paper has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for 80 marks in total, and you have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All 8 questions are scored.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because the exam tests applied assessment skill, focus your preparation on rating scenarios and navigating the permitted materials efficiently.

Which materials are allowed in the open-book exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed, so efficient navigation of these two documents is an essential exam skill the course builds.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can retake the exam through PeopleCert; re-sit terms and fees are set by PeopleCert, so confirm current policy before booking. Our training and mock questions are designed to help you approach the exam confidently the first time. Talk to an advisor about retake support.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

The 16-hour programme covers all five assessor areas: Overview of COBIT 5 Process Assessment, the COBIT 5 PAM, Capability Levels and Attributes, Assessment Planning and Execution, and Evidence, Rating and Reporting, taught at application and analysis level.

What are the six COBIT 5 capability levels?

They are Level 0 Incomplete, Level 1 Performed, Level 2 Managed, Level 3 Established, Level 4 Predictable and Level 5 Optimising. Each level is assessed through process attributes and the four-point rating scale of Not Achieved, Partially Achieved, Largely Achieved and Fully Achieved.

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess COBIT 5 process capability. It has two dimensions: the process dimension, covering the 37 COBIT 5 processes, and the capability dimension, covering the six levels from 0 Incomplete to 5 Optimising.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

You must hold COBIT 5 Foundation, and Implementation is recommended, as both are assumed knowledge. Beyond that, practical IT audit or governance experience helps you apply the assessment scenarios, and the trainer supports you throughout the sessions.

Which syllabus version is the course aligned to?

The course is aligned to the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus, 2024 version, and to the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model and Assessor Guide. The PAM follows ISO/IEC 15504 conventions for capability levels and process attributes.
