    Is PMP required before PMI-RMP?

    What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

    The PMI-RMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination with single-answer and multiple-answer questions. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 115 questions and you have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. Results are reported with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement.

    What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

    There are five domains in the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%). The exam covers predictive, agile and hybrid approaches.

    What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

    PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level performance feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    What if I do not pass the first time?

    You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our training and practice resources are designed to prepare you thoroughly for the first sitting.

    Do I need prior experience to take this course?

    Anyone can attend the training to build risk skills and earn contact hours. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience and education under Set A, B or C. A learning advisor can help you check which set applies to you.
