    What is the format of the Black Belt exam?

    The exam is a closed-book test of 150 multiple-choice questions based on the IASSC Black Belt Body of Knowledge. A reference document with the required formulas and tables is provided for use during the exam.

    How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 150 scored questions and you have four hours (240 minutes) to complete it. Some forms include up to 15 additional unscored questions that do not count toward your result.

    What is the passing score for the Black Belt exam?

    You need a minimum of 580 points out of 750 to pass. Focus your preparation on broad mastery across all five DMAIC phases rather than any single area.

    What is the exam application process?

    You purchase the exam voucher from the certifying body, choose your delivery mode, then schedule and sit the exam. Delivery is either online proctored on demand, available 24/7, or at an authorised Pearson VUE test centre.
