Do I need work experience to take CAPM?

How long is the CAPM certification valid?

CAPM is valid for three years. To renew it, you retake and pass the CAPM exam within the three-year cycle. Unlike the PMP, CAPM renewal does not use PDUs.

Is CAPM recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, CAPM is recognised by employers in more than 200 countries. It signals foundational project management knowledge and commitment to the profession across sectors and borders.

How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The CAPM exam has 150 questions and lasts three hours (180 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions based on the CAPM ECO effective 2023.

Is there a fixed passing score for CAPM?

No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with performance feedback across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery.

Where and how do I take the CAPM exam?

You can take the CAPM exam online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period from application approval.

Which standard is the CAPM exam based on?
