    What is the Toyota Production System the course is based on?

    The Toyota Production System (TPS) is the origin of Lean manufacturing, built on Just-in-Time and Jidoka. The course teaches its five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME) and its core tools so you can apply them in your own operation.

    Do I need prior Lean experience to attend?

    No. The programme introduces Lean from first principles and has no prerequisites. Some manufacturing or production experience is helpful, but the training is open to anyone working in or managing a production environment.

    Assessment

    How is learning assessed on this course?

    There is no formal test or examination. This is a practical skills programme, so you apply the tools during the session through waste walks, 5S assessments, OEE calculations, Kanban sizing and value stream mapping exercises.

    Do I receive anything on completion?

    Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning recognising that you attended and completed the one-day programme. It confirms your training, not a formal credential, as Lean manufacturing has no awarding body.

    Will I be able to apply Lean at work straight away?

    Yes. By the end of the day you can run a waste walk, read and draft a value stream map, launch a 5S programme, design a simple Kanban pull system, calculate OEE and lead a Kaizen improvement in your own plant.

    How is the training delivered and reinforced?

    Learning combines concept explanations, real manufacturing case examples and hands-on exercises. Working through the tools on realistic scenarios, and ideally your own floor in onsite sessions, is what makes the skills stick.

    Is prior knowledge checked before joining?

    No. There are no prerequisites and no entry assessment. The course starts from first principles, so professionals new to Lean and experienced practitioners can both take part and benefit.

    Course Content

    What topics does the course cover?

    The programme covers Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the eight wastes, value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and Kanban, Just-in-Time, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Lean culture.

    What are the five Lean principles taught in the course?

    You learn the five principles that guide Lean: identify value, map the value stream, create flow, establish pull and seek perfection. The course shows how to apply each as a continuous cycle in a real production setting.

    What are the eight wastes the course covers?

    The eight wastes use the DOWNTIME memory aid: defects, overproduction, waiting, non-utilised talent, transport, inventory, motion and extra processing. You practise spotting each on a Gemba waste walk.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

    Yes. You work through waste identification, value stream data collection, a 5S assessment, an OEE calculation, Kanban quantity sizing and standard work observation, so the tools are practised, not just explained.

    How long is the training and what format is it?

    The programme runs for one full day of about eight hours, available as live virtual (online), classroom or onsite corporate delivery. All six Lean modules are covered with exercises throughout.
