Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying, assessing and responding to project risks. It is designed for risk managers, project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in identifying, assessing and responding to project risks. It is designed for risk managers, project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Cambodia?

Yes. As Cambodia's banking, infrastructure and energy sectors scale, employers increasingly value professionals who can govern project risk. The PMI-RMP is globally recognised and helps you stand out for senior risk roles that command strong salary bands in the local market.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education, though many holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials are complementary.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) system.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) effective January 2022, aligned to the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the current PMBOK Guide. The ECO covers risk management across predictive, agile and hybrid projects.

PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, and prices may vary by region. Confirm the current fee on pmi.org before applying. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

Per the ECO effective January 2022, there are five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The passing score is determined through psychometric analysis, and results are reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get, and can I retake it?

    Course Content
