What Is Driving Observability Demand in Mongolia

    Monitoring That Cannot Explain Failures

Many Mongolian IT teams still rely on basic monitoring that flags known issues but cannot explain novel failures. Observability closes that gap with metrics, logs and traces working together.

Observability Foundation teaches the three pillars

    Cloud Migration Outpacing Skills

Banks, telcos and government services are moving to cloud and microservices faster than teams can build the reliability skills those distributed systems demand.

Observability Foundation builds cloud-native reliability skills

    Data-Centre Build-Out Raising the Bar

New renewable-powered data centres backed by the sovereign wealth fund and the Hunnu City zone create demand for engineers who can operate resilient, observable infrastructure at scale.

    Observability Foundation supports resilient operations

    5G and Always-On Service Expectations

Nationwide 5G and expanding digital services raise the cost of downtime. SLIs, SLOs and burn-rate alerting help teams protect always-on experiences for users.

    Observability Foundation strengthens incident response

    Fragmented Tooling and Alert Fatigue

Scattered tools and noisy alerts slow incident response. OpenTelemetry and structured telemetry pipelines give teams one consistent, vendor-neutral approach.

    Observability Foundation standardises telemetry practice

    Scarce Certified Observability Talent

Mongolia has a deep pool of software developers but few professionals with formal observability and SRE credentials, making certified talent rare and sought-after.

Observability Foundation makes your skills stand out

Observability is more than tooling. It is the practice that keeps Mongolia's digital services reliable as they scale. Join engineers who can see inside their systems and act with confidence. Start your journey today.

The Observability Skills You Will MasterMetrics, Logs, Traces and Beyond

This programme builds practical capability across the full Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge, so you can instrument systems, act on meaningful signals and keep distributed services reliable. By the end, you can apply the three pillars, OpenTelemetry and SLO-driven practice with confidence.

Observability Principles and the Three Pillars

Understand what observability is and how it differs from monitoring, and work fluently with the three pillars: metrics, logs and distributed traces. Learn why high-cardinality, high-context telemetry matters for cloud-native and microservices systems.

    Metrics, Logs and Distributed Tracing

Work with counters, gauges and histograms, apply structured logging and log aggregation, and follow requests across services with spans and trace context. Correlate all three signals to reach root cause quickly.

SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and Error Budgets

Define service-level indicators that reflect real user experience, set meaningful objectives, and use error budgets to balance reliability with delivery velocity. Connect SLOs to the SLA commitments customers rely on.

    OpenTelemetry and Telemetry Pipelines

Instrument services with OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions, and design telemetry pipelines that aggregate, transform and route data. Apply sampling strategies and manage the cost of high-cardinality data.

    Alerting Strategy and Incident Response

Move from alert-on-symptom to burn-rate alerting, design on-call rotations that reduce fatigue, and run incidents with clear runbooks. Practise blameless postmortems that turn failures into continuous learning.

    SRE, AIOps and Exam Readiness

See how observability underpins mature SRE practice, explore AIOps and anomaly detection, and prepare for the exam. Master the structure and timing of the 40-question, 60-minute open-book paper.

Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute that validates a foundational understanding of the concepts, practices and tools needed to implement observability. It covers the three pillars of observability, metrics, logs and traces, plus SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and OpenTelemetry.

The certification is offered by the DevOps Institute, delivered through PeopleCert. It is designed for DevOps engineers, site reliability engineers, platform engineers, developers and IT operations professionals who want to formalise their observability knowledge with a recognised credential.

No. Observability Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations is helpful but not required, which makes it a strong entry point into modern reliability and observability practice.

The Observability Foundation credential is valid for three years. It is renewed by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education. Verify current renewal requirements at devopsinstitute.com.

How much does Observability Foundation training cost in Mongolia?

Pricing varies by delivery format and whether the exam voucher is bundled, so the fee is available on request. Instructor-led and corporate options are quoted separately. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote for your requirements.

Is the exam fee included in the price?

The exam voucher is often included in accredited training packages, but this varies. DevOps Institute exam pricing also varies by region and channel. Confirm whether the voucher is bundled and ask about the current exam fee when you request a quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The exam is open book with single-answer, multiple-choice questions, based on the Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint. It is delivered online with PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 questions and you have 60 minutes to complete it. It is an open-book paper, so the focus is on understanding and applying observability concepts rather than memorising them.

    What is the passing score?

The pass mark is 65%, meaning you must answer at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Our mock exams are mapped to this format to help you gauge readiness before exam day.

What topics does the exam cover?

The exam is built on the Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge: observability principles and the three pillars, metrics, logs and distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets, OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines, alerting and incident response, and SRE and AIOps.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

Our training includes practice questions, mock exams and first-attempt guidance to give you the best chance of passing. If a resit is needed, the DevOps Institute re-sit policy applies; verify current details at devopsinstitute.com and ask our team about retake support.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the training?

You will learn to work with metrics, logs and distributed traces, define SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, instrument services with OpenTelemetry, design effective alerting, and run incident response and blameless postmortems, all aligned to the Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no formal prerequisites, and the programme starts from observability fundamentals before moving to tooling and practice. Familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, but the training and hands-on examples build the knowledge you need.

How long is the training programme?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule format. It covers all exam topic areas and prepares you for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book paper.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive DevOps Institute-aligned courseware, industry case studies covering observability principles, SLIs, SLOs, distributed tracing and logging, practice questions and mock exams to reinforce your understanding.

Is the courseware aligned with the current blueprint?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the official Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge) published by the DevOps Institute, covering the three pillars, OpenTelemetry, SLOs and organisational observability practices.
