    There are two separate exams. The Foundation exam has 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions; the Practitioner exam has 40 scenario-based multiple-choice questions. Both are closed book, 60 minutes long, and must be passed to hold both credentials.

    What is the passing score for each exam?

    The passing score is 65% for both exams, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct on the Foundation exam and 26 out of 40 on the Practitioner exam.

    What are the prerequisites for each level?

    The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The EXIN BCS Foundation Certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level, which tests applied skills in project scenarios.

    Where can I sit the EXIN BCS exams?

    You can take both exams online through EXIN's online proctored system or at an EXIN accredited testing location. They are usually arranged through your accredited training provider as part of the combined programme.

    How do the Foundation and Practitioner exams differ?

    Foundation tests knowledge and comprehension of business analysis concepts across 14 topic areas using single-answer questions. Practitioner tests application and analysis across 7 topic areas using scenario-based questions that present realistic project situations.

    What topics does the course cover?

    Foundation covers 14 topic areas including investigation techniques, stakeholder analysis, process and requirements modelling, and business cases. Practitioner covers 7 applied areas such as strategic context, current situation analysis, solution options and business case building.

    What will I learn to do in this course?

    You will learn to elicit and prioritise requirements, investigate the business situation, model processes with BPMN, manage stakeholders, analyse strategy with PESTLE and SWOT, and build business cases using NPV, ROI and payback analysis.

    Which standard is the course based on?

    The course is aligned to the official EXIN BCS Examination Specifications for both levels, which are developed in partnership with BCS and based on the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

    Do I need prior experience to start?

    No prior experience is required for the Foundation level, making the course beginner-friendly. The Practitioner level builds on Foundation knowledge and suits those who will apply analysis techniques in real project work.
