Market Forces Driving Observability Demand in Senegal

    Sovereign Cloud Reliability

Senegal's national sovereign cloud and Diamniadio data centre must run public services with high availability, and that demands engineers who can observe distributed systems, not just monitor servers.

    OBSF builds cloud-native observability skills

    Mobile-Money Uptime Pressure

Orange Money, Wave and bank platforms process millions of transactions where downtime means lost revenue and trust, so teams need SLOs, error budgets and fast root-cause analysis.

OBSF builds SLO and incident-response skills

    Cloud-Native Complexity

As organisations adopt microservices and containers, failures span many services. Distributed tracing and correlated telemetry are essential to understand behaviour that simple dashboards miss.

    OBSF builds distributed-tracing skills

    Observability Skills Shortage

Senegal has a growing pool of developers but few engineers with formal observability and SRE skills, making a recognised DevOps Institute credential a genuine differentiator for hiring.

OBSF makes certified engineers stand out

    Alert Fatigue and Slow Response

Noisy, symptom-based alerts overwhelm on-call teams and slow incident resolution. Burn-rate alerting and blameless retrospectives help teams respond faster and learn continuously.

    OBSF builds alerting-strategy skills

    Dakar 2026 Digital Readiness

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games put national digital systems under real scale and scrutiny, raising demand for professionals who can assure performance and reliability under load.

OBSF builds reliability skills for major events

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a DevOps Institute credential that validates a foundational understanding of the concepts, practices and tools used to make modern systems observable. It suits DevOps engineers, SREs, platform engineers, developers, operations staff and technical leads working in cloud-native environments.

Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a DevOps Institute credential that validates a foundational understanding of the concepts, practices and tools used to make modern systems observable. It suits DevOps engineers, SREs, platform engineers, developers, operations staff and technical leads working in cloud-native environments.

Yes. Observability and SRE skills are scarce and well paid in Senegal, where SRE roles can reach around FCFA 2M to 3M a month. As Sonatel, fintechs, banks and government scale cloud and mobile-money platforms, certified reliability engineers are in strong demand. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

The credential is awarded by the DevOps Institute, a global professional membership body, and delivered through PeopleCert. It is vendor-neutral and recognised by employers internationally as a specialist observability credential.

No. Observability Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations is helpful but not required, which makes OBSF a strong entry point into reliability engineering.

The certification is valid for three years. It is renewed by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities within each three-year cycle.

How much does Observability Foundation training cost in Senegal?

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The OBSF exam is open book with single-answer, multiple-choice questions based on the Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint. It is delivered online with proctoring through PeopleCert OnVUE, or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 questions and an allotted time of 60 minutes (one hour). It is a single-answer, multiple-choice paper aligned to the DevOps Institute Body of Knowledge.

What is the passing score for the OBSF exam?

The pass mark is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. The training and mock exams are designed to build broad mastery across all six blueprint modules.

How and where do I take the exam?

You can sit the exam online from home or the office with secure proctoring through PeopleCert OnVUE, or at an authorised test centre. This makes it convenient to certify from anywhere in Senegal.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam under the DevOps Institute re-sit policy. Our training, mock exams and first-attempt guidance are built to help you pass the first time, and we support you if a retake is needed. Verify current re-sit terms when you register.

    Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation training cover?

The 16-hour programme covers six modules: observability principles and the three pillars; metrics, logs and distributed tracing; SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets; OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines; alerting strategy and incident response; and SRE, AIOps and exam preparation.

Which standard is the course aligned to?

The course is aligned to the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint, the DevOps Institute Body of Knowledge for the credential. This keeps your preparation matched to exactly what the OBSF exam tests.

What is observability and how does it differ from monitoring?

Observability is the ability to understand a system's internal state from its external outputs. Monitoring tells you when something is wrong, while observability helps you understand why, including novel failures you did not predict. The three pillars are metrics, logs and traces.

What are the three pillars of observability?

The three pillars are metrics (quantitative measurements over time), logs (timestamped records of events) and traces (end-to-end records of requests across distributed systems). Together they give a complete view of system behaviour.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams aligned to the 40-question, 60-minute, open-book format, plus case studies, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

    Enrollment

Who can enrol in Observability Foundation training?

Anyone can enrol, as there are no formal prerequisites. The course is ideal for DevOps, SRE, platform, development and operations professionals in Senegal who want to build recognised observability skills.

How do I enrol in the Observability Foundation course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to an advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. See upcoming batches or ask an advisor to find a start date that works for you.
