Do I receive a certification?

No formal certification or credential is awarded, as there is no governing body for this training. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that recognises you completed the programme.

How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. You apply the DMADV tools, from VOC and CTQ flow-down to QFD, the Pugh matrix and DFMEA, to realistic design scenarios throughout the day, so you practise the skills as you learn them.

What will I be able to do after the course?

You will be able to apply the DMADV roadmap to a design project, capture VOC with the Kano model, build a QFD House of Quality, select concepts with the Pugh matrix, run a Design FMEA and plan design verification and validation.

Does the course lead to a Six Sigma belt?

No. This course builds the design side of Six Sigma (DFSS and DMADV) and is a strong complement to Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt training, which are available separately through Invensis Learning.

Course Content

What topics does the Design for Six Sigma course cover?

It covers DFSS foundations and the DMADV roadmap, the Define phase (VOC, Kano, project charter), Measure (CTQ flow-down, QFD), Analyse (concept generation, Pugh matrix, DFMEA), Design (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and Verify (verification, validation, scorecard and transfer).

What is the DMADV roadmap?

DMADV stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. It is the most widely used DFSS methodology, guiding you from customer requirements through measurable CTQs, concept selection, robust design and final verification before launch.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You work through practical exercises on VOC to CTQ flow-down, building a QFD House of Quality, using a Pugh concept-selection matrix and completing a Design FMEA, all applied to realistic product and process design scenarios.

How long is the training?

The course runs for one day (8 hours), covering all six DMADV phases with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on tool exercises. It is also available as a two-session half-day format totalling the same eight hours.

What materials are provided?

You receive structured course materials, tool templates and exercise worksheets for VOC, QFD, the Pugh matrix and DFMEA, plus a course completion certificate on finishing the programme.
