Yes. As Thai banks, fintechs and digital platforms scale agile delivery, employers actively hire Scrum Masters and often list CSM or PSM as preferred. The credential signals verified Scrum knowledge and supports roles that average around 1.08 million baht a year.

Who should take the CSM course?

The CSM suits aspiring Scrum Masters, developers, testers and business analysts formalising their Scrum knowledge, project managers moving to agile, and team leads facilitating Scrum teams. No formal experience or degree is required to attend.

Do I need prior experience to take the CSM?

No. There is no formal work experience or education requirement. The course is designed for those new to Scrum as well as practitioners wanting recognised validation of the Scrum knowledge they already use at work.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle.

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an open-book, online, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The exam has 50 multiple-choice questions with a time limit of 60 minutes. It is taken online without a proctor after course completion.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

You need 74% to pass, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly.

How many attempts do I get to pass the CSM?

Candidates typically have three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course. Verify the current attempt policy on the Scrum Alliance portal before you sit the exam.

Which Scrum Guide edition is the CSM based on?

The CSM is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition, which introduced the Product Goal and the three commitments. The course follows the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives.

Course Content

What will I learn in the CSM course?

You learn the Scrum framework across six topic areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum team, the five Scrum events, the three artefacts and the Scrum Master role, with servant leadership, facilitation and coaching techniques.

How long is the CSM training?

The programme runs for 16 hours of instructor-led learning, delivered as two full days or four half days, exceeding the Scrum Alliance minimum of 14 contact hours.

Is the course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer?

Yes. Scrum Alliance requires that CSM courses are delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), which ensures the curriculum meets the official CSM Learning Objectives.

Are practice questions and materials provided?

Yes. You receive Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, industry case studies, practice questions and knowledge checks that mirror the style of the online CSM exam.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. The CSM is an entry-level certification with no prerequisites, so beginners and experienced team members alike can attend and benefit from the hands-on facilitation practice.
