Is the Observability Foundation certification recognised in Thailand?

Yes. The DevOps Institute is a globally recognised body, and OBSF is valued by Thai employers across banking, fintech, e-commerce, telecoms and cloud providers as a vendor-neutral specialist credential for implementing observability.

Is the Observability Foundation certification worth it?

How long is the Observability Foundation certification valid?

The Observability Foundation certification is valid for three years. You renew it by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities within each three-year cycle.

Are there any prerequisites for the course?

No. Observability Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations is helpful but not required, so beginners and experienced engineers can both take it.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

Exam voucher inclusion depends on the package you choose. The DevOps Institute exam is delivered through PeopleCert, and pricing varies by region and channel. Confirm whether the voucher is bundled when you request your quote.

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The OBSF exam has 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions to complete in 60 minutes. It is an open-book exam based on the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge) published by the DevOps Institute.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The passing score is 65%, meaning you must answer at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Because the paper is open book, broad understanding of the observability blueprint matters more than memorisation.

How is the Observability Foundation exam delivered?

The exam is delivered online with remote proctoring through PeopleCert OnVUE, or at an authorised test centre. You can sit it from home or office in Thailand, subject to the DevOps Institute's exam policies.

What does the Observability Foundation exam cover?

The exam follows the current Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge across six modules: observability principles and the three pillars; metrics, logs and tracing; SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets; OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines; alerting and incident response; and SRE, AIOps and exam prep.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

If you do not pass the first time, you can re-sit the exam under the DevOps Institute's re-sit policy. Our trainers provide targeted guidance and additional practice to help you prepare for a confident retake. Confirm current re-sit terms when you book.

Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation course cover?

The course covers the three pillars of observability, metrics, logs and distributed traces, plus OpenTelemetry, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, alerting strategy, incident response and the role of observability in SRE and AIOps, mapped to the six exam modules.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no formal prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. Some familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, and the trainer builds concepts up from fundamentals so newcomers can follow along and apply them.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 40-question, 60-minute open-book format, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness before exam day.

How long is the Observability Foundation training?

The training is a 16-hour programme, usually delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. It covers all six exam modules and prepares you for the OBSF exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest blueprint?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint and Body of Knowledge from the DevOps Institute, so you study the concepts, pillars and practices the exam actually tests.
