Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. This is a record of attendance and learning, not a formal certification from an external awarding body.

Is this a certification course?

No. RCA training is a practical skills course. There is no governing body, no exam and no credential to renew. The focus is on building tools and workplace capability you can use immediately.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

Learning is assessed informally through hands-on activities: an Is/Is Not problem-definition exercise, a 5 Whys investigation, a Fishbone workshop, an 8D report and a corrective-action plan, all applied to realistic scenarios.

How long does the training take to complete?

The course runs for one day (8 hours). It can also be delivered as two half-day sessions of 4 hours each, covering all six RCA modules with exercises throughout.

Course Content

What RCA tools does the course cover?

The course covers the 5 Whys, the Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), FMEA in an RCA context, and the 8D problem-solving method, plus Is/Is Not analysis, timeline mapping and corrective-action verification. It also teaches when to select each tool.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to write a precise problem statement, apply the 5 Whys, facilitate a Fishbone workshop, use FTA for safety-critical events, complete an 8D report, and develop and verify corrective actions that prevent recurrence.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Practical exercises and case-study investigations run throughout the day, so you apply each tool to realistic problems rather than only studying theory. In corporate sessions, teams can work on their own live problems.

What is the difference between the 5 Whys and the Fishbone diagram?

The 5 Whys is best for simple, single-cause problems, drilling down through iterative why questions. The Fishbone diagram suits complex, multi-cause problems, organising potential causes across categories before drilling each branch. The course teaches when to use each.

Does the course cover 8D and CAPA?

Yes. It covers all eight disciplines of the 8D method, widely used in manufacturing and automotive, and how RCA provides the investigation backbone of a compliant CAPA process in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals.
