Define service-level indicators that matter to users, set meaningful objectives, and use error budgets to balance reliability against delivery velocity, linking engineering work to customer commitments.

    OpenTelemetry and Telemetry Pipelines

Apply OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions, design telemetry pipelines, and choose sampling strategies that control the cost of high-cardinality observability data.

    Alerting Strategy and Incident Response

Move from alert-on-symptom to burn-rate alerting, design on-call rotations that reduce alert fatigue, and run structured, blameless retrospectives that turn incidents into learning.

    SRE, AIOps and Exam Readiness

See how observability underpins mature SRE and AIOps practice, then prepare for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book exam with sample questions and time-management techniques.

Metrics, Logs and Traces Finally Made Sense

"The course finally made the three pillars click for me. I can now correlate metrics, logs and traces during an incident instead of guessing, and I passed the OBSF exam on my first attempt."

Practical SLOs I Could Apply the Next Week

"The SLI, SLO and error-budget sessions were the most useful part. Our on-call is calmer now because our alerts are tied to burn rate rather than noise. The mock exams matched the real paper well."

A Clear Path from Monitoring to Observability

"Coming from a traditional monitoring background, the OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipeline modules opened up a lot. The trainer explained sampling and cost control clearly with real examples."

The Observability Foundation certification validates a foundational understanding of the concepts, practices and tools needed to implement observability in modern IT systems. It covers the three pillars of observability, metrics, logs and traces, along with SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, observability tooling and organisational practice.

The certification is offered by the DevOps Institute (DOI), a global professional membership body, with exam delivery through PeopleCert. Invensis Learning is a DevOps Institute Authorized Training Provider delivering aligned courseware in Azerbaijan and worldwide.

It suits DevOps engineers, site reliability engineers, platform engineers, software developers and IT operations professionals, as well as technical managers overseeing observability. No formal prerequisites are required, though familiarity with DevOps or IT operations is helpful.

The certification is valid for three years. To renew, you earn the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education within each three-year cycle. Verify current renewal requirements with the DevOps Institute.

    Pricing

What is included in the Observability Foundation course fee?

The training fee typically includes DevOps Institute-aligned courseware, case studies, practice questions and mock exams, learner support and, in accredited packages, the OBSF exam voucher. Confirm current inclusions when you enrol. Request a quote to see what applies to your chosen format.

How much does Observability Foundation training cost in Azerbaijan?

Pricing varies by delivery format, whether you choose live virtual, classroom or corporate group training, and any bundled exam voucher. Fees are available on request. Talk to a learning advisor for a quote tailored to individuals or teams in Azerbaijan.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

It depends on the package. Accredited training providers often bundle the DevOps Institute exam voucher with training, but this varies. Confirm whether the OBSF exam voucher is included when you enrol, or ask us to quote a training-plus-exam bundle.

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The exam is open book with single-answer multiple-choice questions, based on the current DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge). It is delivered online through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The Observability Foundation exam has 40 questions and a time limit of 60 minutes (one hour). It is an open-book, single-answer multiple-choice paper.

What is the passing score for the OBSF exam?

The passing score is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Because it is open book, focus on understanding the concepts across all six blueprint modules rather than memorising facts.

Are there prerequisites to sit the exam?

No. The Observability Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations is beneficial but not required, and our training prepares you fully for the exam.

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam under the DevOps Institute re-examination policy. Our training includes practice questions, mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly. Verify the current re-sit terms with the DevOps Institute before booking.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the Observability Foundation training?

You learn observability principles and the three pillars, metrics, logs and distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets, OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines, alerting strategy and incident response, and how observability supports SRE and AIOps practice.

What is observability and how does it differ from monitoring?

Observability is the ability to understand a system's internal state from its external outputs. Monitoring tells you when something is wrong (known unknowns); observability helps you understand why, including novel failures you did not predict. The three pillars are metrics, logs and traces.

What is OpenTelemetry and why does the course cover it?

OpenTelemetry (OTel) is the vendor-neutral, standardised framework for collecting metrics, logs and traces from software systems. It is the de facto standard for observability instrumentation, so the course covers its SDKs, collectors, semantic conventions and sampling strategies.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest OBSF syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge and its six modules, so you study exactly what the exam blueprint expects.

How long is the training and what practice is included?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, delivered over two full days or four half-days. It includes case studies, topic-wise practice questions and mock exams mapped to the 40-question format to build your exam readiness.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the Observability Foundation course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

What training formats are available in Azerbaijan?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training for teams in Azerbaijan, so you can pick the format that fits your schedule and learning style.

Do I need prior experience to enrol?

No. The course is open to all and has no formal prerequisites. Beginners are welcome, and some familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps. The training is structured to take you from fundamentals through to exam readiness.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
