What Is Driving Observability Demand in Belgium

    Cloud-Native Complexity

Belgian teams run microservices and distributed systems where traditional monitoring falls short. Observability of metrics, logs and traces is now essential to understand behaviour and failures.

    OBSF builds three-pillar observability skills

    Tech Talent Shortage

Belgium is forecast to lack around 21,000 technology specialists by 2026. Engineers with a recognised observability credential are rare and highly sought after by employers.

OBSF makes certified engineers stand out

    Reliability Pressure in Finance

Banks and insurers such as Euroclear are scaling cloud and AI analytics under strict uptime and compliance demands, so reliability and observability skills are business-critical.

OBSF builds SLI, SLO and reliability skills

    Rising Observability Costs

Research shows 71% of financial firms treat observability as a chance to optimise spend. Skilled engineers are needed to manage high-cardinality data and sampling without losing insight.

OBSF builds telemetry and cost-control skills

    Fragmented Monitoring Tools

Many organisations juggle separate tools for metrics, logs and traces. OpenTelemetry gives a vendor-neutral standard, and OBSF holders know how to apply it across the stack.

    OBSF builds OpenTelemetry standardisation skills

    Slow Incident Response

Without distributed tracing and good alerting, root-cause analysis is slow and outages last longer. Observability practice cuts mean time to detect and resolve incidents.

The Observability Skills You Will BuildPractical Capability Across the Six Modules

This Observability Foundation course teaches you to understand system behaviour through metrics, logs and distributed traces, define meaningful SLIs and SLOs, instrument code with OpenTelemetry, and run effective alerting and incident response. By the end you can apply observability practices to real cloud-native systems and are ready for the OBSF exam.

Observability Principles and the Three Pillars

Understand what observability is and how it differs from monitoring, and work with the three pillars of metrics, logs and distributed traces. Explore cardinality, dimensionality and high-context telemetry, and why observability matters for cloud-native and microservices systems.

    Metrics, Logs and Distributed Tracing

Work with counters, gauges, histograms and summaries, structured logging and log aggregation, and distributed tracing with spans and context propagation. Learn to correlate metrics, logs and traces to carry out fast, reliable root-cause analysis.

SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and Error Budgets

The course suits DevOps and platform engineers, site reliability engineers, developers, and IT operations professionals who want to understand and improve how their systems behave. It also helps technical leads and managers who oversee observability tooling and reliability decisions.

Yes. Belgium faces a shortage of around 21,000 tech specialists by 2026, and banks, telecom operators and cloud firms are investing in reliability and observability. Certified engineers map to roles such as DevOps Engineer, SRE and Platform Engineer, which average roughly 80,000 to 88,000 euros a year. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

The certification is offered by the DevOps Institute (now part of PeopleCert), a global professional body focused on the human elements of DevOps. Invensis Learning is an authorised training partner delivering the course aligned to the official exam blueprint.

Observability Foundation is valid for three years. To keep it current, you renew every three years by earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities.

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the course is open to all. Familiarity with DevOps or IT operations concepts is helpful but not required, and the training builds the foundational knowledge you need.

    General

Is the OBSF certification worth it in Belgium?

Who governs the Observability Foundation certification?

The certification is offered by the DevOps Institute (now part of PeopleCert), a global professional body focused on the human elements of DevOps. Invensis Learning is an authorised training partner delivering the course aligned to the official exam blueprint.

How long is the OBSF certification valid?

Observability Foundation is valid for three years. To keep it current, you renew every three years by earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities.

    Pricing

How much does Observability Foundation training cost in Belgium?

What is included in the OBSF course fee?

The fee typically includes DevOps Institute aligned courseware, case studies, practice questions, mock exams and first-attempt exam guidance, plus learner support. Exam voucher inclusion can vary, so confirm the current package when you enquire.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

Exam voucher inclusion depends on the package you choose. In many accredited packages the DevOps Institute exam voucher is bundled with training, but this can vary, so confirm the details with our team before you enrol.

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The OBSF exam has 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions and is open book. It is delivered online with proctoring through PeopleCert OnVUE, or at an authorised test centre. You have 60 minutes to complete it.

What is the passing score for the OBSF exam?

The pass mark is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. The course includes mock exams and practice questions to help you reach that standard with confidence.

How long is the Observability Foundation exam?

The exam lasts 60 minutes and contains 40 questions. Because it is open book, the training also covers time management so you can work through the paper efficiently.

What if I do not pass the exam first time?

You can prepare with our mock exams, practice questions and first-attempt guidance to reduce that risk. If a re-sit is needed, the DevOps Institute re-sit policy applies, and our team will guide you through the process.

Which standard is the OBSF exam based on?

The exam is based on the current DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint and its Body of Knowledge, covering the three pillars, tooling, SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, and organisational observability practices.

    Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation course cover?

The course spans six modules: observability principles and the three pillars; metrics, logs and distributed tracing; SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets; OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines; alerting strategy and incident response; and SRE, AIOps and exam preparation.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. Some familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, and the trainer builds concepts up from the fundamentals with practical, cloud-native examples.

    Does the course cover OpenTelemetry?

Yes. A dedicated module covers OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions, along with telemetry pipelines, sampling strategies and managing the cost of high-cardinality observability data.

Are there practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full mock exams aligned to the 40-question, 60-minute, open-book format, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness before the real thing.

How long is the training and in what format?

The instructor-led programme is 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. You can choose online (live virtual) or classroom delivery, and corporate group training is available for teams.
