What Is the Observability Foundation Certification?UntitledYour Entry into Modern Observability

Invensis Learning's Observability Foundation certification training in Chile prepares IT professionals to understand and implement observability in modern, cloud-native systems. The Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute (PeopleCert) that validates a foundational grasp of the three pillars of observability, metrics, logs and traces, along with the tooling, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and cultural practices that make systems reliable. The course is aligned to the current DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge) and covers observability principles, OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines, alerting strategy, incident response and the role observability plays in mature SRE practice. You learn how observability differs from traditional monitoring and how to explain not just when a system fails, but why. With Chile's cloud migration market growing fast and a new AWS region arriving in 2026, employers across banking, retail, mining and fintech want engineers who can keep distributed systems observable. Delivered in live online and corporate formats, this training gives you a globally recognised credential and a clear, supported path from study to certified.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Chile, approved to deliver official Observability Foundation training using accredited courseware and standards.

Why the OBSF Credential Is Worth EarningFor Your Career and Your Team

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Observability Foundation training helps IT professionals move from reactive monitoring to proactive observability. The programme suits DevOps engineers, site reliability engineers, platform engineers, developers and IT operations staff who want to formalise their knowledge with a recognised credential. Whether you are instrumenting microservices, reducing alert fatigue, or preparing to lead observability decisions, this training builds capability that maps directly to how Chilean employers run cloud-native systems.

If you want to stand out in a market where reliability skills are scarce, OBSF is a practical first step. You gain the vocabulary, the framework and the exam readiness that employers across Santiago's financial, retail and technology sectors value.

    • Proves foundational observability knowledge employers increasingly ask for
    • Positions you for DevOps, SRE and platform engineering roles in Chile
    • Builds fluency in the three pillars: metrics, logs and distributed traces
    • Strengthens your grasp of SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets
    • Adds OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipeline skills that are in demand
    • Gives you a globally recognised, vendor-neutral DevOps Institute credential
    • Prepares you for the 40-question, open-book OBSF exam with confidence
    • Connects your monitoring experience to modern observability practice
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Observability Foundation group training helps organisations build reliability capability by equipping teams with a common understanding of metrics, logs, traces and SLOs. Training can be delivered for engineering squads, platform teams and operations groups. For organisations migrating to the cloud or scaling distributed systems, this training creates a consistent, practical approach to keeping services observable and available.

If your teams struggle to understand why systems fail rather than just when, OBSF group training closes that gap. Engineers gain a standardised approach to instrumentation, alerting and incident response that improves reliability across the business.

    • Builds a shared observability language across engineering and operations teams
    • Improves incident response and reduces mean time to resolution
    • Standardises SLI, SLO and error-budget practice across services
    • Strengthens reliability for customer-facing and revenue-critical systems
    • Supports cloud migration and modernisation with observability skills
    • Enables customised, role-based training for your teams
    • Prepares staff for a recognised, vendor-neutral DevOps Institute credential
    • Scales delivery across local and distributed teams in Chile

Why Observability Skills Are in Demand Across Chile

    Cloud Migration at Scale

Chile's cloud migration market is growing near 30% CAGR to 2030, with a new AWS region and hyperscaler commitments above US$8B. Migrated systems need observability engineers who can keep them reliable.

    OBSF builds cloud-native observability skills

    Observability Skills Shortage

Chilean employers list many DevOps and SRE roles but struggle to find people fluent in metrics, logs and traces. A recognised observability credential makes holders rarer and more sought-after.

OBSF makes certified engineers stand out

    Reliability Pressure in Financial Services

Financial services is Chile's top IT spender, and banks and fintechs face strict uptime and regulatory expectations. Observability practice is central to meeting service-level commitments.

OBSF builds SLI, SLO and error-budget skills

    Peak-Traffic Retail and E-Commerce

High-traffic events like CyberDay push retail platforms to their limits, where slow systems cost revenue directly. Distributed tracing and metrics help teams find and fix issues in real time.

OBSF builds performance and tracing skills

    Data Centre and Infrastructure Boom

The National Data Centre Plan (PDATA) 2024-2030 is set to triple the sector, demanding engineers who can instrument, aggregate and route telemetry across growing, complex estates.

OBSF builds telemetry and tooling skills

    From Monitoring to Observability

Microservices and cloud-native architectures break traditional monitoring, which only catches known failures. Observability lets teams understand novel, unpredicted issues, the exact gap OBSF is built to close.

    OBSF closes the monitoring-to-observability gap

Skills You Will Build in This ProgrammeFrom the Three Pillars to SRE Practice

This Observability Foundation programme builds practical, tool-agnostic capability across all six modules of the DevOps Institute Body of Knowledge. By the end, you can explain, instrument and improve the observability of cloud-native systems and are ready for the OBSF exam.

    The Three Pillars of Observability

Skills covered in Observability Foundation start here: understand what observability is, how it differs from monitoring, and how metrics, logs and distributed traces work together to reveal the internal state of modern systems.

    Metrics, Logs and Distributed Tracing

Work with counters, gauges and histograms, structured logging and log aggregation, and spans, contexts and propagation, then correlate all three for effective root-cause analysis.

SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and Error Budgets

Define service-level indicators that matter to users, set meaningful objectives, use error budgets to balance reliability against delivery speed, and understand how SLAs commit reliability to customers.

    OpenTelemetry and Telemetry Pipelines

Learn OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions, build telemetry pipelines for aggregation and routing, and apply sampling and cost-management strategies for high-cardinality data.

    Alerting Strategy and Incident Response

Move from alert-on-symptom to alert-on-burn-rate, design on-call rotations that reduce alert fatigue, and run incident-response runbooks, blameless post-mortems and continuous-learning loops.

Observability for SRE, AIOps and the Exam

See how observability underpins mature SRE practice and AIOps, then prepare for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book OBSF exam with structured revision and sample questions.

    Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation training cover?

The training covers six modules: observability principles and the three pillars; metrics, logs and distributed tracing; SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets; OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines; alerting strategy and incident response; and SRE, AIOps and exam preparation.

Can a beginner take this course without prior experience?

Yes. Observability Foundation is a foundational credential with no prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. Some familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, and the trainer-led sessions and case studies build understanding from the ground up.

What are the three pillars of observability?

The three pillars are metrics (quantitative measurements over time), logs (timestamped records of events) and traces (end-to-end records of requests across distributed systems). Together they let you understand how a system behaves and why it fails.
