    Lean manufacturing is a vendor-neutral methodology with no single awarding body, so the course is not tied to an external accreditation. It is grounded in the Toyota Production System and the recognised Lean body of knowledge.

    Course Content

    What topics does the training cover?

    The course covers the five Lean principles and TPS, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and kanban, JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and Kaizen.

    What is the Toyota Production System and how does it relate?

    The Toyota Production System, developed by Taiichi Ohno and Shigeo Shingo, is the foundation of Lean manufacturing. Its two pillars, Just-in-Time and Jidoka, and its tools form the toolkit you learn and practise in this course.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

    Yes. You practise a Gemba waste walk, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, OEE calculation and kanban sizing, applying each Lean tool to realistic production scenarios rather than only hearing about it.

    What are the eight wastes of Lean?

    The eight wastes, remembered as DOWNTIME, are Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilised talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion and Extra processing. Learning to see and remove them is at the heart of Lean manufacturing.

    Is the training relevant to my industry?

    Yes. While rooted in manufacturing, Lean tools like 5S, value stream mapping and Kaizen apply to medical devices, food, textiles, logistics and service operations, all significant sectors in the Dominican Republic.
