What Is Kanban and How Does It Improve Workflow?UntitledA Visual Pull System for Egyptian Teams

Kanban Training in Egypt equips professionals with a practical, visual way to manage workflow and pull-based production, drawn from the Kanban system that began in the Toyota Production System (TPS). Developed by Taiichi Ohno at Toyota in the 1950s and later adapted for knowledge work by David J. Anderson, Kanban uses simple signals to trigger work only when there is real downstream demand, so teams stop overproducing and start finishing. Over one intensive day, you learn both sides of the method: manufacturing Kanban, with production and withdrawal signals, supermarkets, two-bin systems and kanban sizing, and knowledge-work Kanban, with boards, work-in-progress (WIP) limits, classes of service and flow metrics. It suits production and operations managers, supply chain professionals, Lean coordinators, Scrum Masters, IT and software delivery leads and anyone in Egypt responsible for moving work through a system. By the close of the programme you can design a pull loop or a Kanban board, calculate kanban quantities, set WIP limits and read a cumulative flow diagram, ready to apply from day one. Start building flow with Invensis Learning.

What Is Driving Demand for Kanban Skills in Egypt

Inventory Cost Pressure from Currency Swings

A volatile Egyptian pound makes tied-up stock expensive. Pull-based Kanban replenishes only on real demand, so manufacturers hold less inventory and free up working capital.

Kanban builds pull-based, just-in-time replenishment skills

    Scaling Automotive and Component Manufacturing

With 25+ assembly plants and around 170 component makers, and a push toward 400,000+ vehicles, Egyptian plants need pull systems to synchronise supply across process steps.

Kanban builds pull loop and supermarket design skills

    Nearshore Software Delivery Speed

As Egypt targets USD 6bn in outsourcing exports, Cairo delivery teams must hit client timelines. Kanban boards and WIP limits improve predictability and cut delivery delays.

Kanban builds board, WIP limit and flow metric skills

Deep Project Talent, Thin Flow Expertise

Egypt has many project managers but few who can run pull systems and flow metrics. Kanban capability is scarce, making trained practitioners valuable to employers.

Kanban makes flow-skilled practitioners stand out

    Overloaded Teams and Multitasking Waste

Knowledge teams are routinely handed more work than they can finish. WIP limits stop starting and start finishing, converting hidden overload into steady, visible delivery.

Kanban builds WIP discipline and prioritisation skills

    FMCG and Supply Chain Efficiency

Food and FMCG producers such as those in dairy and packaged goods need lean replenishment. Kanban aligns production and materials to actual consumption, reducing waste.

The Practical Kanban Skills You Will BuildApplied to Manufacturing and Agile Work

This Kanban training turns theory into capability you can use the next day. By the end, you can design a pull system or a Kanban board, size the work, limit WIP and measure flow across manufacturing, IT and service environments.

Push vs Pull and JIT Foundations

Skills covered in Kanban start here: explain the difference between push and pull, why overproduction is the worst Lean waste, and how the kanban signal makes just-in-time production work in practice.

    Designing Manufacturing Kanban Systems

Set up production and withdrawal kanban, two-bin and one-bin systems, and kanban supermarkets, so a pull loop between decoupled process steps runs as a self-regulating, self-pacing control mechanism.

    Sizing Kanban and Calculating Quantities

Use takt time to size the system, apply the kanban quantity formula and calculate the number of cards, so inventory is capped by design and reduces over time as your process improves.

Building Kanban Boards with WIP Limits

Design boards with columns, swimlanes, classes of service and a definition of done, and set WIP limits that force teams to stop starting and start finishing across software, IT and service work.

Measuring Flow with Metrics and the CFD

Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, apply Little's Law, and read a cumulative flow diagram to spot where work piles up and how to make the system faster without working harder.

    Implementing and Sustaining Kanban

Roll out Kanban with the start with what you do now principle, blend it with Scrum as Scrumban, and sustain it so flow metrics keep surfacing the next improvement automatically.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the Kanban course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on design exercises, case examples and team discussion during the programme rather than a formal test.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after completing the programme. No external credential is awarded, because Kanban training has no governing body or certification exam. The value is in the practical skills you can apply immediately.

How is learning assessed during the course?

Learning is applied, not examined. You work through exercises such as push versus pull identification, kanban quantity calculation, pull-loop design, Kanban board design, WIP limit setting and cumulative flow diagram interpretation, using realistic scenarios throughout the day.

What will I be able to do after completing the training?

You will be able to design a manufacturing pull loop and supermarket, calculate kanban quantities, build a Kanban board with WIP limits and classes of service, apply Scrumban, measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, and read a cumulative flow diagram.

Is there a governing body or accreditation for Kanban?

No single governing body owns Kanban, and this course carries no accreditation or exam. It is grounded in the recognised Kanban method, from the Toyota Production System to David J. Anderson's knowledge-work adaptation, and focuses on practical capability.

    Course Content

What topics does the Kanban training cover?

The course covers Kanban origins and the pull concept, manufacturing Kanban types and mechanics, kanban sizing and implementation, knowledge-work boards and WIP limits, flow metrics and the cumulative flow diagram, and implementing and sustaining Kanban across environments.

How long is the Kanban training?

The programme runs for one day, a total of eight hours, covering all six Kanban modules with concept explanations, real-world case examples and hands-on design exercises. It can also be spread across two half-day sessions.

What is the difference between manufacturing and knowledge-work Kanban?

Manufacturing Kanban uses physical signals, supermarkets and kanban sizing to run just-in-time pull production. Knowledge-work Kanban visualises tasks on a board, limits work in progress per stage and manages flow. Both share the same pull principle and are covered in the course.

What are WIP limits and flow metrics?

WIP limits cap how many items sit in each workflow stage, forcing teams to finish work before starting more. Flow metrics, lead time, cycle time and throughput, measure speed and predictability. The cumulative flow diagram shows where work accumulates so you can improve it.

What materials and resources are provided?

You receive structured courseware covering all modules, worked examples, hands-on exercises for pull loops and boards, and reference material on kanban sizing and flow metrics, so you can apply the method to your own manufacturing or knowledge-work context.
