What Is the Certified ScrumMaster Certification?Your Route into the Scrum Master Role

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's foundational Scrum Master credential, validating your grasp of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values that make agile teams effective. With more than a million certificates issued worldwide, it is the most widely recognised Scrum Master qualification, and CSM certification training in Dublin ties that recognition to one of Europe's busiest technology markets. The programme is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, and to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. Delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer, it covers Scrum theory and empiricism, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, all five Scrum events and three artifacts, and the servant-leadership skills the role demands. Whether you are moving from traditional project delivery, formalising Scrum knowledge already gained on the job, or stepping into your first Scrum Master post at a Dublin tech, fintech or consulting employer, this is a clear and supported path. Complete the course, sit the online exam, and start your Scrum Master journey with Invensis Learning.

Invensis Learning is aligned with Scrum Alliance to provide CSM certification in Dublin. The training is delivered by Certified Scrum Trainers (CST) using official Scrum Alliance courseware and the CSM Learning Objectives.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The CSM is Scrum Alliance's foundational Scrum Master credential. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values and practices that make Scrum teams effective. It is the most widely recognised Scrum Master qualification, with over a million certificates issued worldwide.

    General

What is the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification?

The CSM is Scrum Alliance's foundational Scrum Master credential. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values and practices that make Scrum teams effective. It is the most widely recognised Scrum Master qualification, with over a million certificates issued worldwide.

Is the CSM certification worth it for a career in Dublin?

Yes. Scrum Master roles in Dublin average around 75,000 euro, with senior roles reaching well above 90,000 euro, and demand is strong across tech, fintech, banking and consulting. A recognised Scrum credential helps you stand out in a market short of certified agile talent.

Who should take the CSM course?

The CSM suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers moving to agile, and developers, testers or business analysts formalising Scrum knowledge. There is no formal education or work experience requirement, so it works well for those new to Scrum and those already on a Scrum team.

Which body awards the CSM and which standard is it based on?

The CSM is awarded by Scrum Alliance. The course and exam align to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee every two years. SEUs can be earned through courses, conferences, coaching and self-study.

    Pricing

How much does CSM training cost in Dublin?

Fees vary by format and provider, and the CSM online exam is typically included in the course fee paid to the training organisation. For current Dublin pricing and group rates, the fee is available on request. Speak with a learning advisor for a quote.

What is included in the CSM course fee?

The fee typically includes Certified Scrum Trainer instruction, Scrum Alliance-aligned courseware, case studies, exam access via the Scrum Alliance portal, and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership on passing. Confirm the exact inclusions when you request a quote.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

For the CSM, the online exam fee is usually included in the course fee paid to the training provider, as the exam is unlocked on course completion. We confirm what is included when you enquire, so there are no surprises.

Do you offer group or corporate rates for CSM training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for engineering teams, PMOs and business units adopting agile. Ask about corporate and group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Talk to a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an online, open-book, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, and needs no proctor.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a 60-minute (one hour) time limit. It is taken online after course completion, so you can sit it when you feel ready within the access window.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

You need 74 percent to pass, which is at least 37 correct out of 50 questions. Because the exam is open book, focus on understanding the Scrum framework rather than memorising answers.

What if I do not pass the CSM exam first time?

You typically have up to three attempts within 90 days of completing the course. Our trainer guidance and practice help you prepare, so most learners pass comfortably. Verify the current attempt policy with Scrum Alliance.

Do I have to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

Yes. Scrum Alliance requires attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer before the exam is unlocked. You then access the online exam through your Scrum Alliance member account, usually within 90 days.

    Course Content

What topics does the CSM training cover?

The training covers the six CSM areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, the five Scrum events, the three Scrum artifacts, and the Scrum Master role, all aligned to the current Scrum Guide and the CSM Learning Objectives.

Do I need prior experience to take the CSM course?

No. The CSM is an entry-level credential with no formal prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. If you already work in a Scrum team, the course formalises and deepens what you know through hands-on facilitation practice.

How long is the CSM training?

Our CSM programme runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days, which exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement. The format you choose depends on your schedule and preferred pace.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest Scrum Guide?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition, and to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives, so you learn the framework as it stands today.

What learning materials and practice are included?

You receive Scrum Alliance-aligned course materials, industry case studies on facilitation and coaching, and practice activities to build exam readiness. The hands-on sessions help you apply Scrum events and artifacts in realistic scenarios.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the CSM course in Dublin?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, onsite classroom training, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and how you like to learn.

How soon can I start and how do I book?

We run regular Dublin and live virtual batches, so you can usually start within a few weeks. Choose a schedule, enrol online, and you are set. See upcoming schedules or speak with an advisor to book your place.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange this before your session begins.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
