Market Forces Driving Observability Demand in Iceland

    Data Centre Scale and Complexity

Iceland's data centre market is set to reach USD 769 million by 2031, run by operators like atNorth, Verne Global and Borealis. Managing telemetry across that scale needs engineers fluent in observability, not just monitoring.

OBSF builds skills to observe systems at scale

    Reliability of AI Workloads

Renewable-powered AI and HPC clusters are a growing Icelandic export, but heavy GPU workloads fail in novel ways. Teams need observability to understand unknown-unknowns, not only pre-set alerts.

OBSF builds telemetry and tracing capability

    Cloud and Microservices Migration

As Icelandic banks and fintechs move to cloud-native microservices, request paths span dozens of services. Distributed tracing and correlated telemetry become essential to find root cause quickly.

    OBSF builds distributed tracing skills

    Certified Observability Talent Shortage

Iceland has a deep pool of developers but few engineers with formal, vendor-neutral observability credentials. The OBSF certification helps holders stand out in a tight local hiring market.

OBSF makes certified engineers stand out

    The Cost of Always-On Downtime

For gaming platforms, payment services and telecoms, minutes of downtime hit revenue and trust. SLOs, error budgets and sharper incident response reduce that exposure directly.

OBSF builds incident response and SLO skills

    High-Cardinality Telemetry Cost

Observability data volumes are exploding, and so are the bills. Engineers who understand OpenTelemetry pipelines, sampling and cost management keep reliability high without runaway spend.

    What Our Learners Say

    Untitled

    From Dashboards to Real Observability

"The course finally made the three pillars click for me. I now instrument our services with OpenTelemetry and can trace a slow request across microservices instead of guessing. The mock exams matched the real OBSF paper closely."

    Practical and Job-Ready

"Clear, practical sessions on SLIs, SLOs and error budgets. I applied the alerting-on-burn-rate approach the week after and our on-call noise dropped noticeably. Passing the exam on the first attempt was a bonus."

    Accessible for Developers Too

"As a developer new to observability, the trainer kept everything accessible. The distributed tracing and telemetry pipeline modules were the most useful for the work I do day to day."

A Shared Reliability Language for the Team

"We put our whole platform team through the corporate training. It gave everyone a shared language for telemetry and SLOs, and our incident reviews are far more consistent now. Delivery around our schedule was seamless."

Right Fit for a High-Scale Environment

"The trainers understood the scale we operate at in our data centre environment. Standardising on OpenTelemetry and error budgets across teams has already reduced downtime. Strong, well-structured corporate programme."

    Pricing

What is included in the OBSF training fee?

The fee typically includes DevOps Institute aligned courseware, expert instruction across all six modules, practice questions, mock exams, an exam voucher and first-attempt guidance. For exact inclusions and current pricing, request a quote and speak with a learning advisor.

How much does Observability Foundation training cost in Iceland?

Pricing varies by delivery format and whether the exam voucher is bundled, so it is available on request. Contact us for a current quote in your preferred format, or ask about corporate and group pricing for teams.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

Many packages include the DevOps Institute exam voucher, but inclusion can vary. Confirm whether the OBSF exam fee is bundled with your chosen package when you request a quote, so there are no surprises.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for platform and engineering teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing and we will tailor a quote to your team size and delivery needs.

    Exam

What is the format of the OBSF exam?

The Observability Foundation exam has 40 single-answer, multiple-choice questions to complete in 60 minutes. It is open book and based on the DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge).

What is the passing score for the exam?

You need 65 per cent to pass, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Our mock exams and practice questions are designed to build readiness across all six modules.

How and where do I take the OBSF exam?

The exam is delivered online with remote proctoring via PeopleCert OnVUE, or at an authorised test centre. You can sit it from home or office in Iceland, subject to the proctoring requirements.

Are there any prerequisites to sit the exam?

No. There are no formal prerequisites for Observability Foundation. Familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations is beneficial, and prior DevOps Foundation or SRE Foundation study can make the content more accessible.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

Our training includes first-attempt guidance and full mock exams to maximise your chances. If a resit is needed, we can advise on the DevOps Institute re-sit process and support your preparation. Talk to a learning advisor about retake options.

    Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation course cover?

How long is the training and how is it delivered?

The Observability Foundation programme is 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. It is available online as live virtual instructor-led training and in classroom formats, plus customised corporate delivery.

Is the courseware aligned with the current syllabus?
