What Is the AgilePM Foundation and Practitioner Certification?Your Route to Governed Agile Delivery

The Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner Certification Course (AgilePM) is a two-level, DSDM-based qualification that teaches project professionals how to run agile projects with real governance and control. AgilePM certification training in Japan from Invensis Learning takes you through both levels in one combined programme, building the knowledge to pass the closed-book Foundation exam and the applied judgement to pass the open-book Practitioner exam. The framework is owned and published by the Agile Business Consortium, and the course is aligned to the current edition of the AgilePM Handbook and the current AgilePM Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi. You learn the eight AgilePM principles, the six-phase lifecycle, the business, technical and management roles, MoSCoW prioritisation and timeboxing, so time and cost stay fixed while scope flexes to guarantee delivery. As Japanese enterprises scale digital transformation and agile spreads beyond software teams, employers increasingly want delivery leaders who can pair agile speed with governance. Start your AgilePM journey with Invensis Learning and prepare for both credentials with a clear, supported path.

How to Get Agile PM Certified in JapanStep-by-Step Certification Process

The path to Online Agile PM certification follows a structured two-exam route. There are no prerequisites for the Foundation examination. After completing the combined Foundation and Practitioner training, candidates progress through both certification exams to demonstrate their knowledge of Agile Project Management principles and practices. Most learners complete the process within 1 to 2 weeks after training.

Step 1: Complete the Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner Training

Enrol in the Invensis Learning Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner Certification training in Japan (5-Day Live Online Bootcamp, E-Learning, or Corporate Group Training). The integrated programme covers the Agile PM lifecycle, roles and responsibilities, project control, requirements, estimating, and risk management.

Step 2: Sit the Agile PM Foundation Exam

Take the Foundation exam: 50 multiple-choice questions, 40 minutes, 50% pass mark (25 of 50), closed book. Delivered online proctored from your home or office in Japan, or at an approved test centre.

Step 3: Earn the Agile PM Foundation Credential

On passing the Foundation exam, your Agile PM Foundation certificate is issued. The Foundation credential validates your knowledge of Agile project management fundamentals.

Step 4: Sit the Agile PM Practitioner Exam

Take the Practitioner exam: 4 objective-test questions, 2.5 hours, 50% pass mark (40 of 80 points), open book to the official Agile PM manual. The Practitioner exam is scenario-based and tests applied knowledge in realistic project contexts.

Step 5: Activate Your Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner Credentials

On passing both exams, you earn both the Agile PM Foundation and Practitioner certificates. The Foundation credential is lifetime valid; the Practitioner credential typically has a 5-year validity, renewable via continuing professional development (CPD) or re-examination.

Step 6: Maintain Your Practitioner Credential

Maintain your Agile PM Practitioner credential by earning CPD points each year or by re-sitting the Practitioner exam before the 5-year validity expires. Foundation does not require renewal.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

AgilePM (Agile Project Management) is a structured agile framework based on DSDM that provides eight principles, a defined lifecycle, roles, MoSCoW prioritisation and timeboxing. The combined Foundation and Practitioner course suits project managers, team leaders, business analysts and PRINCE2 holders adopting agile delivery.

    General

What is AgilePM and who is this course for?

AgilePM (Agile Project Management) is a structured agile framework based on DSDM that provides eight principles, a defined lifecycle, roles, MoSCoW prioritisation and timeboxing. The combined Foundation and Practitioner course suits project managers, team leaders, business analysts and PRINCE2 holders adopting agile delivery.

Is AgilePM certification worth it in Japan?

Yes. As Japanese enterprises scale digital transformation and agile spreads beyond software, employers want leaders who can govern agile delivery. Agile project managers in Japan average around 10.4 million yen a year, and governed agile talent is scarce, so the credential is a strong career investment.

Who owns and publishes the AgilePM framework?

The DSDM-based AgilePM framework is owned and published by the Agile Business Consortium, formerly the DSDM Consortium. The course is aligned to the current edition of the AgilePM Handbook and the current Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi.

    Is AgilePM recognised internationally?

Yes. AgilePM is recognised in over 150 countries and is especially strong where structured project governance is required alongside agile delivery. The credential is portable across sectors and regions, which matters for professionals in Japan's global companies.

What are the eight AgilePM principles?

Focus on the business need; deliver on time; collaborate; never compromise quality; build incrementally from firm foundations; develop iteratively; communicate continuously and clearly; and demonstrate control. The course teaches you to apply all eight in real project situations.

    Pricing

How much does AgilePM training cost in Japan?

Training fees vary by format, whether live virtual, onsite or 1-to-1, so pricing is available on request. The two AgilePM exam fees are billed separately and also vary. Contact a learning advisor for a current quote tailored to your chosen format.

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes AgilePM-aligned courseware for both levels, practice questions, mock exams, industry case studies and learner support, plus a course completion certificate. Exam fees are usually quoted separately. Request a quote to confirm inclusions for your plan.

Are the exam fees included in the training price?

Exam fees are generally billed separately from the training fee, as the combined programme leads to two separate AgilePM examinations. Verify the current inclusion and exam pricing with your learning advisor before you enrol.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for delivery teams, PMOs and transformation groups. Ask about corporate pricing for a tailored quote for your organisation in Japan.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the AgilePM Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice, single-answer questions, lasts 40 minutes and is closed book. The pass mark is 50%, meaning 25 out of 50 correct. There are no formal prerequisites to sit it.

What is the format of the AgilePM Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has 4 scenario-based questions worth 15 marks each, 60 marks in total, and lasts 2 hours. It is open book, so the AgilePM Handbook is permitted. The pass mark is 50%, meaning 30 out of 60 marks.

How many exams are in the combined programme?

Two separate exams. You sit the Foundation exam first, then the Practitioner exam. Both must be passed to hold both credentials. The combined training prepares you for each in one programme.

What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

You can re-sit an AgilePM exam if needed. Retake policies and any fees vary, and selected plans include retake support, so preparation with our mock exams is designed to help you pass with confidence. Ask a learning advisor about re-sit options.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

The AgilePM Handbook is permitted during the Practitioner exam. However, the scenario questions require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient handbook navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential, and the course practises both.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the AgilePM training?

The programme covers the AgilePM philosophy and eight principles, the six-phase lifecycle and products, the business, technical and management roles, requirements and MoSCoW prioritisation, timeboxing and quality, and planning, control and risk, at Foundation and Practitioner depth.

Do I need prior experience or can a beginner take it?

AgilePM Foundation has no formal prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. To sit the Practitioner exam you need Foundation certification first. The combined programme guides you from awareness to applied practice, so no prior agile qualification is required to start.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams for both the Foundation and Practitioner levels, plus industry case studies, to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for each exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the current AgilePM syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current edition of the AgilePM Handbook and the current AgilePM Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi published in support of the framework owned by the Agile Business Consortium.

How is the training delivered and how long is it?

The combined programme is delivered over roughly 40 hours, typically as a five-day intensive or spread across more days depending on the schedule. Formats include live virtual, onsite classroom and focused 1-to-1 training.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the AgilePM course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

What training formats are available in Japan?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, onsite classroom training, and customised corporate group training, plus focused 1-to-1 sessions. Choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style anywhere in Japan.

    How soon can I start?

New batches run regularly across live virtual and onsite formats. See upcoming schedules on the website or ask a learning advisor to recommend the next available cohort that suits your timezone in Japan.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include the option to attend the training again. Contact support to arrange a change to your enrolment.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment before you book.
