What Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Certification?UntitledYour Route into Professional Change Practice

The Change Management Foundation and Practitioner (CM-F&P) is a globally recognised, two-level credential that proves you can manage the people and culture side of organisational change. Foundation validates your knowledge of change concepts and models across five syllabus areas; Practitioner proves you can apply them to workplace change through scenario-based, open-book assessment. What Is Fuelling Change Management Demand in Japan

The 2025 Cliff and Legacy Reset

METI warns that firms clinging to ageing systems risk up to 12 trillion yen a year in losses. Modernisation only pays off when people adopt new ways of working, the exact gap change managers close.

CM-F&P builds change practice and readiness skills

The Human Side of DX Is Overlooked

Only about 30% of Japanese firms rate their DX as successful, versus 80% in the US and Germany, largely because change management is treated as an afterthought rather than a discipline.

CM-F&P builds adoption and stakeholder skills

    Seniority and Silo Culture

Seniority-based systems and siloed structures slow reform. Certified change managers know how to shift culture, engage stakeholders and embed new behaviour across resistant organisations.

CM-F&P builds culture and communication skills

    Talent Shortage at Historic Highs

Japan enters 2026 with labour shortages unseen in three decades. Professionals who can lead adoption and reduce disruption are prized, and a recognised credential sets them apart.

CM-F&P makes certified change talent stand out

GX Layered on Top of DX

Green transformation and sustainability mandates add more concurrent change on already stretched teams, raising demand for structured practice that manages change saturation and resilience.

CM-F&P builds change-saturation and planning skills

    Consulting Demand Is Booming

PwC Consulting Japan grew headcount 15% and Deloitte Tohmatsu fields 21,000 professionals. Change-and-transformation capability is now a baseline hiring requirement across the sector.

The Change Capabilities You Will BuildSkills You Apply on Day One

In the combined Change Management Foundation and Practitioner course you will learn to lead the people side of change end to end, from diagnosing individual resistance to rolling out enterprise-wide transformation. Each capability maps to one of the five official syllabus areas and to the roles Japanese employers are hiring for.

    Guide Individuals Through Change

Apply ADKAR and Bridges' Transition Model to diagnose where adoption stalls, understand transition versus change, and move people from resistance to commitment through targeted interventions.

    Lead Organisational Change

Select and apply Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model and McKinsey 7-S to real scenarios, and read organisational culture with Schein's framework to judge readiness.

    Engage Stakeholders and Communicate

Build stakeholder maps, engagement strategies and change communication plans that cut through resistance, rumour and ambiguity, using influence principles and power-interest analysis.

    Plan and Deliver Change Practice

Run change impact assessments and build end-to-end change plans covering stakeholder engagement, training, resistance management and embedding, integrated with the project timeline.

Manage Yourself as a Change Practitioner

Apply emotional intelligence, coaching and facilitation skills and ethical judgement to build trust, navigate conflict and sustain relationships through difficult change.

    Pass Both Exams with Confidence

Master the closed-book Foundation format and the open-book Practitioner technique, navigating the Change Management Practitioner Guide efficiently under timed, scenario-based conditions.

    Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

Two. The Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam. You must sit and pass both to hold both credentials, and the 40-hour programme prepares you for each.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?
