    Exam

    What is the format of the Foundation exam?

    The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 40 minutes. It is closed book with single-answer questions, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 25 out of 50 correct. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation training.

    What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

    The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, with the Change Management Practitioner Guide permitted, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 40 out of 80 marks.

    What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

    You may use the Change Management Practitioner Guide during the exam, but the scenario sections require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient navigation of the guide and solid method knowledge are both essential.

    Are there prerequisites to sit the exams?

    Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. To sit the Practitioner exam you must first hold the Change Management Foundation certification or an accepted equivalent. The combined programme prepares you for both in sequence.

    What happens if I do not pass an exam the first time?

    Both exams can be resat if needed. Our training includes mock exams, scenario practice and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly. Confirm the current resit policy and any fees with our team before you book.

    Course Content

    What topics are covered in the training?

    The programme covers five topic areas: Change and the Individual, Change and the Organization, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation builds knowledge, while Practitioner applies each area to real scenarios.

    Can a beginner take this course?

    Yes. Foundation assumes no prior change management knowledge, so beginners are welcome. The trainer builds concepts step by step before you move into applied Practitioner work, and case studies and practice questions support you throughout.

    How long is the combined programme?

    The combined Foundation and Practitioner training is a 40-hour programme. It is commonly delivered as five full days, with Foundation content first and Practitioner content and exam practice following, though scheduling can vary by format.

    You receive syllabus-aligned courseware, industry case studies, mock exams and practice questions for both levels, plus reference to the Change Management Practitioner Guide for open-book exam technique.

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi and the Change Management Practitioner Guide, and it draws on the CMBoK maintained by the Change Management Institute.
