Is a certificate included in the fee?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. This is a skills training course, so there is no separate exam or examination fee.

Assessment

Is there an exam for the DFSS course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam. Your learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, case scenarios and team discussion during the day, and you receive a course completion record on finishing.

Do I get a certification after the course?

No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning, and gain practical DFSS methodology and tool skills you can apply to new product and process design straight away.

How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead you practise the tools throughout the day, working through VOC to CTQ flow-down, a QFD House of Quality, a Pugh selection matrix and a Design FMEA on realistic design scenarios.

What will I be able to do after the course?

You will be able to apply the DMADV roadmap, capture and classify the voice of the customer, translate needs into CTQs, build a QFD House of Quality, run a Design FMEA, apply robust design, and plan design verification and transfer.

Which DFSS methodology does the course use?

The course is built around DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify), the most widely used DFSS roadmap. It also gives you awareness of alternative frameworks such as IDOV and DMADOV so you can adapt the approach to your own development process.

Course Content

What topics does the DFSS course cover?

The course covers DFSS foundations and DMADV, the Define phase (VOC and Kano), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept selection and DFMEA), the Design phase (robust design, P-diagram and DFMA), and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no prerequisites, and every DFSS tool and the DMADV methodology are taught from first principles. Hands-on exercises and worked scenarios help newcomers build confidence quickly.

Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You apply the tools throughout the day, including VOC to CTQ flow-down, building a QFD House of Quality, comparing concepts with the Pugh matrix, and completing a Design FMEA worksheet on realistic product and process scenarios.

Does the course cover QFD, DFMEA and robust design?

Yes. Quality Function Deployment, Design FMEA and robust design are all core parts of the syllabus, alongside the P-diagram, Taguchi methods, Design of Experiments awareness and design-for-manufacturability principles.

Is this course relevant to my industry?

Yes. DFSS applies wherever new products or processes are designed, including beverages, food, cement and building materials, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, electronics and industrial equipment, all of which are active in Angola's economy.
