How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The CAPM exam has 150 questions and lasts three hours (180 minutes). It is closed book with multiple-choice questions, delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The exam is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023 and covers four domains: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%).

Is there a fixed passing score for CAPM?

No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported against the four CAPM domains as above target, target, below target or needs improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four.

How many attempts do I get for the CAPM exam?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from the date your application is approved. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts.

Where can I sit the CAPM exam?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE within your eligibility period.
