What Is Driving Risk Management Demand in Basel

    Risk-Based Clinical Trial Regulation

    PMI-RMP builds risk assessment skills

    Pharmacovigilance and Safety Obligations

Swissmedic requires post-market surveillance and periodic safety update reports, pushing Basel pharma firms to embed structured risk monitoring across product lifecycles.

    PMI-RMP builds risk monitoring skills

    High-Stakes Capital Projects

Basel's pharma and chemical leaders run billion-franc facility and R&D projects where cost and schedule risk must be quantified, not guessed, to protect large investments.

    PMI-RMP builds quantitative analysis skills

    EU Regulatory Alignment

Rising alignment with EU rules adds compliance complexity to Swiss life sciences projects, and risk leaders are hired to navigate shifting regulatory requirements.

    PMI-RMP builds compliance risk skills

    Scarce Certified Risk Talent

Basel has a deep project management pool but few credentialed risk specialists, making PMI-RMP holders rare and sought-after by regulated employers.

    Capital Discipline and Value Protection

Cost pressure across pharma and banking pushes organisations to prioritise, de-risk and protect value, exactly the skill set the PMI-RMP is built around.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management. It suits risk specialists, senior project managers and PMO analysts who identify, assess and respond to risk on complex projects and programmes.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management. It suits risk specialists, senior project managers and PMO analysts who identify, assess and respond to risk on complex projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Basel?

Yes. Basel's pharma, biotech and finance sectors run heavily regulated, high-value projects where structured risk management is essential, so the PMI-RMP marks you as a specialist and can lift both your role and your pay.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite. You can apply for the PMI-RMP directly based on your risk management experience and education, though many holders also hold the PMP because the two credentials complement each other.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. You renew it by earning 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year CCR cycle, fewer than the 60 PDUs required for the PMP.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) effective January 2022, aligned to PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide, and it covers predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-RMP training in Basel cost?

PMI-RMP training in Basel is quoted on request and varies by format and cohort. Your fee covers PMI-aligned courseware, mock exams and application support, while the PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes 32 hours of instructor-led training, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, an exam simulator and application guidance, plus learner support and a course completion certificate.

How much is the PMI-RMP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD, around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; verify current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership, about USD 139 per year, lowers the exam cost.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer volume-based pricing for teams and business units, with tailored PMI-RMP training for PMOs and risk functions across Basel. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the PMI-RMP exam first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and our mock exams and domain-wise practice are built to prepare you thoroughly. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts; confirm current amounts at pmi.org.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and lasts 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and weights?

Five domains per the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Results are set psychometrically and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement by domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can sit the exam at a Pearson VUE test centre or via OnVUE online proctoring from home or office. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE within your eligibility period.

    Course Content

Do I need prior experience to take PMI-RMP training?

You can join the training at any level, but the exam requires risk management experience. Set B needs a degree plus 24 months of project risk experience within the last five years; our trainers guide you on meeting the requirements.

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers all five ECO domains: risk strategy and planning, identification, analysis, response, and monitoring and closing risks, plus qualitative and quantitative tools and exam strategy.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes domain-wise practice questions, full-length mock exams and an exam simulator to help you find weak areas and build readiness for the 115-question exam.

Does the training meet the PMI education requirement?

Yes. The 32 contact hours fully meet the 30-hour risk management education requirement for Set B and Set C applicants. Set A applicants need 40 hours and should add supplementary study.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-RMP outline?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

What training formats are available in Basel?

We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, self-paced e-learning and customised corporate group training, so you can learn in the format that fits your schedule.

What are the eligibility steps to sit the exam?

Confirm you meet one of PMI's three requirement sets, complete your risk management education, submit your PMI application, pass any audit, then schedule the exam through Pearson VUE within your one-year eligibility period.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.
