The Project Skills You Will BuildFoundations for Real Projects

CAPM training gives early-career learners a complete grounding in project delivery across the four exam domains. By the end of the programme, you can speak the language of project management and support predictive, agile and hybrid work.

    Project Management Fundamentals

Skills covered in CAPM start with core fundamentals, the largest exam domain: distinguish projects, programmes and portfolios, understand project lifecycles and roles, read a project charter, and apply the 12 PMI project management principles.

    Predictive, Plan-Based Delivery

Work through the five process groups and manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, resources and procurement. Build and decompose a WBS, apply the critical path method, and use earned value management at a foundational level.

    Agile and Hybrid Frameworks

Apply the Agile Manifesto in practice and work with Scrum, Kanban, Lean and XP. Understand hybrid delivery, product backlogs, user stories, velocity and burndown charts so you can support agile and blended teams with confidence.

    Business Analysis Essentials

Cover the business analysis content that carries real weight in the exam: needs assessment, requirements elicitation and traceability, models and diagrams, and solution evaluation, connecting stakeholder needs to project delivery.

    Stakeholder Communication

Identify and analyse stakeholders, plan engagement, and communicate clearly across a project. Learn how power and interest shape engagement and how feedback keeps expectations aligned throughout delivery.

    Tracking and Reporting Progress

Measure performance against baselines, apply earned value terminology, and build status reports and dashboards. Capture lessons learned so knowledge feeds back into how the next project is run.

    General

What is the CAPM certification and who is it for?

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is PMI's entry-level project management credential. It proves you understand the fundamental terminology, processes and principles of project management. It is designed for students, recent graduates, career changers and project team members, and needs no prior work experience.

Is the CAPM worth it in Costa Rica?

Yes. CAPM opens entry-level project roles and is recognised by the 350+ multinationals and local employers operating in Costa Rica. Certified coordinators earn around 12.3M colones a year, with analyst and project roles paying more as you progress. Talk to a learning advisor about your career goals.

Do I need work experience to take the CAPM?

No. CAPM is the only PMI practitioner credential that requires no project management work experience. You need a secondary degree, such as a high school diploma or global equivalent, plus at least 23 hours of project management education, which this training provides.

How long is the CAPM certification valid?

CAPM is valid for three years from the date of certification. Unlike PMP, you renew CAPM by retaking and passing the exam within the three-year cycle rather than by earning PDUs.

    Is the CAPM recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, CAPM carries global recognition through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. Employers value it as a credible entry-level project management credential and a signal of commitment to the profession.

    Pricing

What is included in the CAPM training fee?

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams, departments and new-hire cohorts. Ask about corporate pricing for your organisation.

    Exam

What is the format of the CAPM exam?

The CAPM exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and a duration of three hours. It is closed book and delivered through Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective January 2023.

Is there a fixed passing score for CAPM?

No. PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Your result is reported as pass or fail with performance feedback across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery of all of them.

You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period that begins when your application is approved.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?
