    What is the format of the two exams?

    The Foundation exam is closed book with 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions. The Practitioner exam is closed book with 40 scenario-based multiple-choice questions that present realistic project situations. Both are aligned to the EXIN BCS Examination Specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

    How many questions are there and what is the pass mark?

    Each exam has 40 questions and a duration of 60 minutes. The passing score for both the Foundation and the Practitioner exam is 65%, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct.

    How does the Foundation exam differ from the Practitioner exam?

    Foundation tests knowledge and comprehension of business analysis concepts across 14 topic areas using single-answer questions. Practitioner tests the application and analysis of BA techniques across 7 topic areas using scenario-based questions. Both are 40 questions in 60 minutes.

    Where can I take the EXIN BCS BA exams?

    You can sit both exams online through EXIN's online proctored system or at an EXIN accredited testing location. They are usually arranged through your accredited training provider as part of the combined package.

    What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

    You can re-sit the relevant exam by purchasing a new voucher. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer guidance are designed to prepare you to pass both exams on your first attempt; verify the current re-sit policy at exin.com.

    Course Content

    What topics are covered in the training?

    The programme covers the Foundation topic areas, including investigation techniques, stakeholder analysis, business process modelling, requirements engineering and business case development, then the seven applied Practitioner topics such as understanding the strategic context and identifying potential solutions.

    What will I be able to do after the course?

    You will be able to investigate a business situation, elicit and model requirements, apply BPMN and stakeholder techniques, run strategy analysis with PESTLE and SWOT, and build a business case using NPV, ROI and payback to recommend a solution.

    Do I need prior experience or can a beginner start?

    Beginners are welcome. The Foundation level has no formal prerequisites, so you can start with no prior business analysis background. The Practitioner level builds on Foundation, and the combined programme takes you through both in sequence.

    Is the courseware aligned to the current specification?

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge, so you study exactly what the two exams assess.
