Assessment

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Your learning is reinforced through hands-on Azure DevOps exercises across the programme, and you receive a Course Completion Certificate from Invensis Learning on completion.

How is my learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply each concept through practical exercises, such as configuring a repository, writing a YAML pipeline, deploying a Bicep template and setting up monitoring, so you can demonstrate the skills in real Azure DevOps tooling.

Will I be able to build a pipeline on my own afterwards?

Yes. By the end you can create a repository with branch policies, write a CI pipeline with build, test and artifact publishing, add a deployment stage to Azure App Service or AKS, deploy infrastructure as code, and set up Azure Monitor and Application Insights.

Do I need an Azure account before attending?

You should have access to an Azure subscription and an Azure DevOps organisation, with a free tier available at dev.azure.com. Confirm with our team whether a shared training environment is provided so you can prepare in advance.

What can I do at work after completing the training?

Course Content

What topics are covered in the Azure DevOps course?

The course spans six modules: DevOps principles and the Azure DevOps ecosystem, source control and CI, continuous delivery, agile planning and infrastructure as code, containerisation and monitoring, and DevSecOps with test management and continuous improvement.

How long is the training and how is it structured?

The programme runs as a one-day, eight-hour intensive covering all six modules, with hands-on Azure exercises throughout. It can also be delivered across two half-days. Concepts are paired with live configuration in the Azure DevOps portal and Azure CLI.

Are the hands-on labs included in the training?

Yes. Practical labs run throughout, including building a YAML CI pipeline, deploying a Bicep template from a pipeline, deploying to AKS, configuring a Key Vault-linked variable group, and setting up Azure Monitor alerts and Application Insights dashboards.

Does the course cover infrastructure as code and containers?

Yes. You learn infrastructure as code with ARM templates and Bicep, and containerisation with Docker, Azure Container Registry and Azure Kubernetes Service, including deploying containerised applications from Azure Pipelines using Helm.

Is security covered in the training?

Yes. The DevSecOps module covers shift-left security with Microsoft Defender for DevOps, including secret scanning, dependency scanning and infrastructure as code scanning, plus Azure DevOps permissions and Azure Key Vault integration with pipelines.
