The Pressures Making Lean Skills Essential in Ireland

Margin Pressure in a High-Cost Base

Irish plants operate in a high-cost economy, so eliminating waste and lifting productivity is essential to stay competitive. Lean tools remove the non-value work that quietly erodes margin.

Lean training targets the waste that erodes margin

    Life Sciences Scaling Fast

With biopharma forecast to add tens of thousands of jobs, new and expanding sites need standard work, 5S and flow discipline to ramp safely and meet rising demand.

Lean training builds flow and standard work

    Complex, Regulated Production

Pharma and medical device plants must improve efficiency without breaking GMP or ISO 13485 compliance. Lean methods raise OEE while keeping validated processes stable.

Lean training raises OEE within compliance

    Continuous Improvement Talent Gap

Employers report a shortage of professionals who can lead CI and Lean programmes, making practical waste-elimination skills a clear differentiator in the Irish market.

Lean training makes your skills stand out

    Supply Chain and Delivery Strain

Volatile demand and supply pressure push manufacturers towards pull systems, kanban and Just-in-Time flow to cut inventory and protect on-time delivery.

Lean training builds pull and kanban skills

    Making Improvement Stick

Many sites adopt Lean tools but struggle to embed a Kaizen culture. Training whole teams builds the shared habits that make gains last beyond a single project.

Lean training builds a Kaizen culture

Pricing varies by delivery mode, group size and format, so fees are available on request. Live virtual, classroom and on-site corporate options each have different rates. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current pricing for your preferred format.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six Lean modules, structured courseware, hands-on tool exercises, downloadable templates, learner support and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Ask us for the full inclusions for your chosen format.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for production, quality and maintenance teams. It is ideal for training a whole plant together. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment methods are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with invoicing options for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to arrange the payment method that suits you or your organisation.

Is the training available online or only in person?

Both. The training is delivered as online (live virtual) instructor-led sessions, in the classroom, or on site for corporate teams. Online delivery gives you the same practical exercises and trainer interaction from any location in Ireland.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Lean tool exercises, waste identification activities, case examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning once you complete the one-day programme. No external credential is awarded, as the course builds practical, immediately applicable skills rather than preparing you for an exam.

How is learning checked during the course?

Through practical activities rather than a test. You complete a waste walk, value stream mapping, a 5S assessment, an OEE calculation and kanban sizing on realistic scenarios, so you can apply each tool with confidence by the end of the day.

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day (eight hours) and covers all six Lean modules, from Toyota Production System foundations and the eight wastes through VSM, 5S, pull systems, TPM, standard work and Kaizen, with exercises throughout.

Can the course be tailored to my plant?

Yes, when delivered as corporate training. We adapt the examples and exercises to your own processes and improvement targets so your team applies waste elimination and flow tools directly to your production environment.

    Course Content

What topics does the course cover?

It covers the five Lean principles and the Toyota Production System, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and kanban, Just-in-Time, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Kaizen culture.

What Lean tools will I learn to use?

You learn to run waste walks, draw value stream maps, apply 5S, design kanban pull systems, calculate OEE, write standard work, use SMED for quick changeover and facilitate Kaizen events and A3 problem solving on the shop floor.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Practical exercises run throughout the day, including Gemba-based waste identification, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, an OEE calculation and kanban quantity sizing, all applied to realistic manufacturing scenarios.

Is the training relevant outside manufacturing?

Yes. While the focus is manufacturing, the principles and many tools, such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping and waste elimination, apply to logistics, healthcare operations and other production or service environments across Ireland.

    What materials do I receive?

You get structured courseware covering all six modules, downloadable Lean templates and reference guides, and worked examples from real manufacturing improvements. These help you apply the tools on your own line after the training.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the training?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete your booking, and you will receive access to schedules and course materials. Prefer to talk it through? Speak with a learning advisor first.

What schedules and delivery modes are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led sessions, classroom training and customised corporate group training, with flexible weekday and weekend schedules. Choose the format that fits your working pattern and location in Ireland.

Can I arrange training for my whole team?

Yes. Corporate group training is delivered on site or live online, customised to your processes and scheduled around your plant's availability. It is the most effective way to build a shared Lean approach across a team. Ask about group pricing.

    Can I reschedule my booking?

Yes. Flexible options let you move to another scheduled session if your plans change. Contact our support team and they will help you transfer to a date that works for you.
