What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 40 minutes. It is closed book with single-answer questions, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 25 out of 50 correct.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has five scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, so the Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 40 out of 80 marks.

How many exams are there in the combined programme?

There are two separate exams. You must sit and pass both the Foundation and the Practitioner exams to hold both credentials. Foundation is usually taken after the Foundation content and Practitioner at the end of the programme.

What are the prerequisites for the Practitioner exam?

You need the Change Management Foundation certification, or an accepted equivalent, before sitting the Practitioner exam. Foundation itself has no formal prerequisites and is open to all.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

The Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the exam, but the scenario-based sections require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and solid method knowledge are both essential, and we cover this technique in the course.

They are Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation covers them at knowledge level and Practitioner at application level.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No prior change management experience is required for Foundation, so beginners are welcome. The training builds from core concepts to applied scenarios, and the Practitioner level then develops your ability to apply the models in real situations.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the official Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi, the current edition of the Change Management Practitioner Guide, and the CMBoK.
