How long is the Observability Foundation certification valid?

The credential is valid for three years. You renew it by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities.

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The OBSF exam is an open-book, multiple-choice examination based on the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint. It uses single-answer questions covering observability concepts, the three pillars, tooling, SLIs and SLOs, and organisational practice.

How many questions are on the OBSF exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes (one hour). It is open book with single-answer multiple-choice questions.

What is the passing score for Observability Foundation?

You need 65% to pass, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. The course includes mock exams and practice questions to help you reach that mark on your first attempt.

How is the Observability Foundation exam delivered?

The exam is delivered online with proctoring through PeopleCert, or at an authorised test centre. After training you can schedule it at a time that suits you.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You can resit the exam. Our training includes structured practice, mock exams and first-attempt guidance to reduce that risk, and your advisor can explain the resit process and any applicable fees.

Yes. There are no formal prerequisites, so beginners can join. Familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, and the trainer-led sessions and practice materials build your knowledge step by step.

You receive DevOps Institute aligned courseware, case studies, practice questions and mock exams, plus reference material mapped to the Observability Foundation Body of Knowledge.

How long is the training programme?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. It covers all six modules and prepares you for the exam.
