Why Observability Skills Are in Demand Across Taiwan

    The Monitoring-To-Observability Gap

Many Taiwan enterprises have dashboards and alerts but still cannot explain novel failures in microservices. Observability closes that gap by revealing why systems fail, not just when.

    OBSF builds true observability skills

    Cloud-Native Complexity

The AWS Taipei Region and rapid Kubernetes adoption create distributed systems that traditional monitoring cannot see into, driving demand for engineers fluent in the three pillars.

    OBSF builds distributed-tracing skills

    Reliability Pressure in Financial Services

Taiwanese banks and fintechs such as E.SUN and CTBC face strict uptime and SLA obligations, so professionals who can define SLOs and protect reliability are in demand.

OBSF builds SLO and error-budget skills

    AI and HPC Scale

TSMC-driven AI and HPC workloads generate telemetry at massive cardinality, needing engineers who can design pipelines and manage observability cost at scale.

    OBSF builds high-cardinality telemetry skills

    Alert Fatigue and Slow Incidents

Teams drowning in noisy alerts recover too slowly from outages. Burn-rate alerting and blameless retrospectives turn observability data into faster, calmer incident response.

OBSF builds alerting and incident-response skills

    Observability Skills Shortage

Taiwan has a deep pool of developers but few engineers certified in OpenTelemetry and SRE practice, making a vendor-neutral observability credential rare and valued.

OBSF makes certified engineers stand out

Observability is now a core reliability skill, not a nice-to-have. Join the engineers in Taiwan who can keep cloud-native systems observable, reliable and fast to recover. Start your OBSF journey today.

Skills You Will Build in This CoursePractical, Tool-Ready Observability Capability

You will learn to design and operate observability across cloud-native and microservices systems, from instrumenting code to responding to incidents. Every skill maps to the DevOps Institute Body of Knowledge, so you build capability you can apply at work and the knowledge the OBSF exam tests.

Master the Three Pillars of Observability

Understand how metrics, logs and distributed traces work together, how observability differs from monitoring, and why high-context telemetry matters for cloud-native and microservices systems.

    Instrument Systems with OpenTelemetry

Learn how OpenTelemetry SDKs, collectors and semantic conventions capture telemetry, and how to build pipelines that aggregate, transform, sample and route data while controlling cost.

Define SLIs, SLOs and Error Budgets

Set service-level indicators that matter to users, write meaningful SLOs, and use error budgets to balance reliability against delivery velocity across your services.

    Correlate Telemetry for Root-Cause Analysis

Bring metrics, logs and traces together to find the real cause of incidents, using spans, trace context and structured logging to move from symptom to source quickly.

    Design Alerting and Incident Response

Move from alert-on-symptom to burn-rate alerting, reduce alert fatigue, run effective on-call rotations, and lead blameless retrospectives that turn incidents into learning.

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The OBSF exam is an open-book, single-answer multiple-choice paper based on the DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint. It is delivered online with PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the OBSF exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 questions and lasts 60 minutes (one hour). It is open book with single-answer multiple-choice questions, so the course includes timed practice to help you manage the 40-question, 60-minute paper.

What is the passing score for the OBSF exam?

The passing score is 65 per cent, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. The course maps to the exam blueprint so you build broad mastery across every topic area.

What topics does the Observability Foundation exam cover?

The exam covers observability principles and the three pillars (metrics, logs, traces), OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines, SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, alerting and incident response, and the role of observability in SRE and AIOps.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

The course gives you thorough preparation with mock exams and practice questions to help you pass first time. If a retake is needed, DevOps Institute re-sit terms apply. Ask your learning advisor about retake support on your chosen plan.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the OBSF course?

You will learn to implement observability across modern systems: the three pillars, OpenTelemetry instrumentation, telemetry pipelines, SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, alerting strategy, incident response, and how observability supports SRE and AIOps.

Do I need prior experience, or can a beginner take this course?

Beginners are welcome, as there are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, and the trainer builds concepts from the ground up with practical examples so newcomers to observability can follow comfortably.

What are the three pillars of observability?

The three pillars are metrics (quantitative measurements over time), logs (timestamped records of events), and traces (end-to-end records of requests across distributed systems). Together they let you understand system behaviour and find root cause.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest DevOps Institute blueprint?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint and Body of Knowledge, covering the concepts, tooling and practices tested in the OBSF exam.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams aligned to the 40-question, open-book OBSF format, plus case studies, to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.
