What Is the Observability Foundation Certification?UntitledYour Entry into Modern Observability

The Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a vendor-neutral certification from the DevOps Institute that validates your understanding of the concepts, practices and tools used to implement observability in modern IT systems. Observability Foundation certification training in Uganda gives DevOps, site reliability and IT operations professionals a structured, exam-ready route to this globally recognised credential. Aligned to the current Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge), the programme builds fluency in the three pillars of observability, metrics, logs and distributed traces, together with OpenTelemetry, telemetry pipelines and the SLI, SLO and SLA practices that keep services reliable. You learn how observability differs from traditional monitoring and how to move from alerting on symptoms to understanding why systems behave as they do. As banks, telecoms, fintechs and government services across Uganda modernise onto cloud-native and microservices platforms, employers increasingly value professionals who can keep those systems observable and dependable. The credential has no formal prerequisites, so you can begin today, prepare for the 40-question OBSF exam, and earn a qualification that travels, with Invensis Learning.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Uganda, approved to deliver official Observability Foundation training using accredited courseware and standards.

Why Observability Skills Are in Demand Across Uganda

    Cloud Migration Without Visibility

As Ugandan banks, telecoms and enterprises move to cloud and microservices, many lose visibility into system behaviour, the exact gap that observability practice is built to close.

Observability training closes the visibility gap

Mobile Money and Banking Uptime Pressure

Mobile money and digital banking demand near-constant uptime. Observability skills let teams define SLOs, catch failures early and protect the services customers rely on daily.

Learn SLIs, SLOs and reliable service design

    Scarce SRE and Observability Talent

Uganda has a growing developer base but few certified observability and reliability practitioners, making the OBSF credential a clear way for professionals to stand out.

A credential that makes practitioners stand out

    Fragmented Monitoring Across Systems

Legacy monitoring rarely spans hybrid and cloud estates. The three pillars, metrics, logs and traces, give teams one coherent way to understand distributed systems end to end.

    Unify metrics, logs and traces

    Rising Government E-Service Expectations

As public e-services expand under the national digital roadmap, agencies need transparent, reliable performance, which observability practice directly supports.

    Build reliability into public platforms

    Controlling Telemetry Cost and Noise

High-cardinality data and noisy alerts strain budgets and on-call teams. Observability training covers sampling, telemetry pipelines and burn-rate alerting to keep costs and fatigue in check.

    Manage pipelines, sampling and alerting

    Pricing

How much does Observability Foundation training cost in Uganda?

Training pricing in Uganda is available on request and varies by delivery format, whether live virtual, corporate or self-paced. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote, and ask about corporate or group rates for teams.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes accredited courseware aligned to the exam blueprint, practical labs, mock exams and practice questions, first-attempt exam guidance and post-training support. Confirm the exam voucher inclusion when you enrol.

The exam voucher is often bundled into accredited training packages, but this can vary. The DevOps Institute exam fee is billed in USD and varies by region and channel, so confirm the exact inclusion and amount when you enrol.

    Exam

What is the format of the Observability Foundation exam?

The OBSF exam is an open-book, single-answer multiple-choice examination based on the DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge). It is delivered online with PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions and a duration of 60 minutes (one hour). It is open book with single-answer questions across the observability topic areas in the blueprint.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The passing score is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Preparing across all six modules, from the three pillars to SLOs and alerting, is the best way to pass comfortably.

How and where do I sit the exam?

You can take it online from home or office through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring, or at an authorised test centre. After training you register for the exam, then sit it within your voucher validity period.

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can resit the exam under the DevOps Institute re-sit policy; confirm current terms and any fee at the time of booking. Our first-attempt guidance, mock exams and practice questions are designed to help you pass the first time.

    Course Content

What topics does the Observability Foundation training cover?

The training covers six modules: observability principles and the three pillars, metrics, logs and distributed tracing, SLIs, SLOs, SLAs and error budgets, OpenTelemetry and telemetry pipelines, alerting strategy and incident response, and SRE, AIOps and exam preparation.

What are the three pillars of observability?

The three pillars are metrics (quantitative measurements over time), logs (timestamped records of events) and traces (end-to-end records of requests across distributed systems). Together they give a complete picture of how a system behaves.

What is OpenTelemetry and why does it matter?

OpenTelemetry (OTel) is the vendor-neutral, CNCF standard for collecting telemetry, metrics, logs and traces, from software systems. It is the de facto instrumentation framework, and the training shows you how to use its SDKs, collectors and pipelines.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams mapped to the 40-question, 60-minute, open-book format, so you can identify weak areas, build recall and practise timing before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest exam blueprint?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current DevOps Institute Observability Foundation Exam Blueprint (Body of Knowledge), covering the three pillars, tooling, OpenTelemetry, SLIs, SLOs and SLAs and organisational observability practice.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the Observability Foundation course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website or by speaking with a learning advisor. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches to get started.

What training formats are available in Uganda?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, self-paced e-learning and customised corporate group training. You can choose the format that fits your schedule, whether you are an individual professional or a team in Kampala or elsewhere in Uganda.

How long is the training programme?

The Observability Foundation training is a 16-hour programme, typically delivered over two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. It covers all six modules and prepares you for the OBSF exam.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. There are no formal prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. Some familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps, and the trainer builds concepts from the ground up with hands-on examples and support throughout.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. You can reschedule or transfer to another batch under our published policy, and selected plans include flexible options. Contact our support team to arrange this and we will help you find a suitable schedule.
