Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a structured, scalable project management method covering seven principles, the People capability, seven practices and seven processes. This combined qualification is based on PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) from AXELOS and examined by PeopleCert, taking you from method knowledge to applied practice.

    General

What is the PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner certification?

PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a structured, scalable project management method covering seven principles, the People capability, seven practices and seven processes. This combined qualification is based on PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) from AXELOS and examined by PeopleCert, taking you from method knowledge to applied practice.

Is the PRINCE2 certification recognised in South Africa?

Yes. PRINCE2 is a globally recognised project management credential valued by employers across South Africa and worldwide, including government, public sector, banking, IT services and infrastructure organisations that need controlled, governed delivery.

Why should I choose Invensis Learning for PRINCE2 training?

Invensis Learning delivers accredited, PeopleCert-aligned PRINCE2 7 training with experienced trainers, flexible live online and classroom formats, and structured preparation for both exams. You get clear support before, during and after training.

Is the PRINCE2 certification worth it for my career?

Yes. PRINCE2 opens roles such as project coordinator, project manager, programme manager and PMO manager. In South Africa, senior project roles average around R1m a year, and a recognised method credential helps you stand out in a competitive market.

How long are the PRINCE2 certifications valid?

Both PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner are valid for three years. Foundation is renewed by earning 60 CPD points within the cycle, and Practitioner can be renewed by re-examination, CPD via a MyAxelos subscription, or a higher PRINCE2 qualification.

Do I need experience to take the course?

No. PRINCE2 Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to everyone, from those new to project management to team members in a PRINCE2 environment. The training builds you up to the Practitioner level in one pathway.

    Pricing

How much does PRINCE2 training cost in South Africa?

Training fees vary by format and are available on request in South African rand. The PeopleCert exam fees for Foundation and Practitioner are billed separately and are not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the PRINCE2 course fee?

The training fee typically includes PeopleCert-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam preparation for both levels, learner support and a course completion certificate. Exam vouchers may be bundled depending on the package.

Are the exam fees included in the training price?

PeopleCert bills the Foundation and Practitioner exam fees separately, and pricing varies by region and channel. Confirm the current exam fees at peoplecert.org, or ask our team about packages that bundle the exams with training.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, delivery teams and departments across South Africa. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment methods are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PRINCE2 exams?

The Foundation exam is closed book with 60 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. The Practitioner exam is open book, with 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks over 150 minutes, using scenario-based objective testing.

What is the passing score for each exam?

Both exams require 60% to pass. That means 36 out of 60 correct on the Foundation exam, and 42 out of 70 marks on the Practitioner exam. You must pass both to hold both credentials.

What are the prerequisites for the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam requires PRINCE2 Foundation certification, or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM or IPMA Level A to D. Foundation itself has no prerequisites, so the combined pathway covers both levels in sequence.

Where and how do I take the PRINCE2 exams?

You take both exams through PeopleCert, either via the OnVUE online proctored system available 24/7, or at a PeopleCert authorised test centre. Exams are usually arranged as part of a combined training and dual-exam package.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

The PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects 7th Edition manual is permitted during the Practitioner exam. You can refer to it, but the questions test analysis and judgement, so time management matters more than simple look-up.

What happens if I do not pass first time?

You can resit the exam through PeopleCert, and our trainers provide preparation support to help you succeed. Confirm the current resit policy and any reexamination fees at peoplecert.org before rebooking.

    Course Content

What topics does the PRINCE2 training cover?

The programme covers the seven PRINCE2 principles, the People capability, the seven practices (Business Case, Organizing, Plans, Quality, Risk, Issues and Progress), the seven processes, and tailoring, plus preparation for both exams.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PRINCE2 edition?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) and the current PRINCE2 7 Foundation and Practitioner syllabus, based on the PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual published by PeopleCert and AXELOS.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. The Foundation level assumes no prior PRINCE2 knowledge, so beginners and those new to project management can start here. The training then builds towards the applied Practitioner level with guided practice.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes for both Foundation and Practitioner, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness before the real thing.

What is new in PRINCE2 7 compared with PRINCE2 6?

PRINCE2 7 (2023) introduces the People capability as a core element, renames Themes to Practices, incorporates commercial management, and integrates agile and sustainability across the method, with updated management products.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the PRINCE2 course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, self-paced e-learning, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style.

How soon can I start the training?

New batches run regularly across South African time zones and globally. See our upcoming schedules for the next available cohort, or speak with a learning advisor to find a start date that suits you.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans allow you to attend the training twice. Contact our support team to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
