How is learning assessed in the AWS DevOps course?

What topics does the AWS DevOps course cover?

The course covers six areas: DevOps culture and the AWS ecosystem, source control and CI with CodeCommit and CodeBuild, continuous delivery with CodeDeploy and CodePipeline, infrastructure as code with CloudFormation and the CDK, containers with ECS and EKS, and monitoring, DevSecOps and continuous improvement.

Can a beginner take this AWS DevOps course?

Yes. There are no formal prerequisites. Basic familiarity with AWS and the Linux command line helps, but every DevOps tool and concept is introduced from a practitioner's perspective, so newcomers to AWS DevOps can follow along.

Are the sessions hands-on?

Yes. Live AWS labs run throughout the day. You create a CodeCommit repository, build a CodePipeline, deploy a CloudFormation stack, and deploy a containerised application to Amazon ECS, among other exercises.

Which AWS tools will I learn?

You will work with CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, CloudFormation, the AWS CDK, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, Amazon ECR, CloudWatch, X-Ray, IAM and Secrets Manager across the DevOps lifecycle.

Does the course cover DevOps culture and metrics?

Yes. Alongside the tools, you learn the CALMS model, The Three Ways of DevOps, blameless post-mortems and the four DORA metrics used to measure deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and time to restore service.
