What Is COBIT 5 Assessor Certification?UntitledYour Route to Specialist IT Governance Assessment

COBIT 5 Assessor Certification Training in Botswana prepares IT governance and audit professionals to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM). The COBIT 5 Assessor (COBIT 5-A) credential is the highest level of the COBIT 5 qualification scheme, sitting above Foundation and Implementation, with its examination delivered through PeopleCert. The programme is aligned to the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version) and the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5. Because the PAM is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504 (SPICE), you learn a two-dimensional model, six capability levels and nine process attributes that give assessments international credibility. You gain hands-on practice in scoping, evidence gathering, rating against the four-point scale, and reporting to boards and auditors. As Botswana accelerates SmartBots digital government, banking digitalisation and King IV governance expectations, organisations increasingly need professionals who can measure IT governance capability objectively. Assessor is that specialist step. Complete your Foundation and Implementation, then earn the credential with Invensis Learning and lead structured, evidence-based assessments with confidence.

Why choose Invensis Learning for this training in Botswana?

Invensis Learning is a PeopleCert Authorized Training Provider delivering training aligned to the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). You get experienced trainers, flexible formats, assessment case studies and support that carries you toward the open book exam.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor recognised in Botswana and worldwide?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and Assessor is its highest specialist level. It is valued by banks, mining houses, telecoms, audit firms and public bodies in Botswana, and PeopleCert operates in over 200 countries.

How does COBIT 5 Assessor differ from Implementation?

Implementation validates the ability to deliver a governance improvement programme using the seven-phase lifecycle. Assessor validates the specialist ability to measure process capability using the PAM and ISO/IEC 15504. Implementation covers governance delivery; Assessor covers governance measurement.

Is the COBIT 5 Assessor credential worth it for my career?

Yes. Assessor is a scarce specialist skill in Botswana, where certified assessors are fewer than general IT auditors. It positions you for lead assessor, IT audit manager and IT governance manager roles, where local pay bands rise well above analyst level.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The exam is open book and objective, based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model are permitted. It is delivered by PeopleCert, online proctored or at a test centre.

How many questions are in the exam and how long is it?

The paper has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All eight questions are scored, with none unscored.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 50%. You must score 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Questions require analysis and professional judgement, so efficient navigation of the permitted materials matters.

What are the prerequisites for the Assessor exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended, and the Assessor exam assumes both Foundation and Implementation knowledge. Verify current prerequisites with PeopleCert before you apply.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; confirm the current re-sit policy and any fee with them. Our training focuses on scenario practice and open book technique to build your readiness before you sit.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

The programme covers the five Assessor topic areas: overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the PAM, capability levels and attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting, all aligned to the 2024 syllabus.

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model?

The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess COBIT 5 processes. It has two dimensions: the process dimension across the 37 COBIT 5 processes, and the capability dimension of six levels from Incomplete to Optimising, measured through nine process attributes.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

You should hold COBIT 5 Foundation, with Implementation recommended, as both are assumed. Practical IT audit or governance assessment experience helps. The training builds application and analysis skills on top of that base.

Are there practice questions and case studies included?

Yes. The programme includes assessment case studies and mock questions mapped to the eight-question, open book format, plus practical exercises in scoping, evidence gathering, rating and reporting.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?
