    The CSM exam is an open-book, multiple-choice assessment of 50 questions taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. You have 60 minutes and no proctor is required.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    The passing score is 74 per cent, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The exam tests knowledge and comprehension of the Scrum framework across the CSM learning objectives.

    How many attempts do I get for the CSM exam?

    Candidates typically have three attempts to pass the CSM exam within 90 days of completing an approved course. The training and included practice help you prepare to pass on your first attempt.

    Do I need to attend a course to take the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory, and the exam cannot be accessed without completing it. Self-study alone does not qualify you for the CSM exam.

    How soon can I sit the exam after the course?

    No. The CSM is an entry-level certification with no formal work experience or education requirement. It is suitable for those new to Scrum as well as team members who want to formalise existing Scrum knowledge.

    How long is the training and in what format?

    The CSM training runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days, in live virtual or classroom format. It is led by a Certified Scrum Trainer and includes practical exercises and exam preparation.
