    Sustainability and Retrofit Mandates

Swiss net-zero targets and retrofit demand add governance, scope and compliance complexity to construction projects, rewarding leaders who can control change at scale.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for people who deliver construction projects. It is designed for construction project managers, site and project engineers, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in the built environment.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for people who deliver construction projects. It is designed for construction project managers, site and project engineers, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in the built environment.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction careers in Lausanne?

Yes. With Vaud facing a housing shortage and a strong infrastructure pipeline, employers value construction-specific project management. Certified professionals earn strong salaries, with construction project managers in Lausanne averaging around CHF 127,571 a year.

Is a PMP required before taking the PMI-CP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with the PMP covering general project management and the PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

    Is the PMI-CP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-CP is recognised globally through PMI's network across more than 200 countries. It is valued in international construction markets where clients and contractors seek globally recognised project management credentials.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least eight PDUs in each area, reported through PMI's continuing certification requirements system.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI application, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for the full inclusions.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Lausanne?

Training pricing varies by format and is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote for your preferred format.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference, it is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members; confirm current fees at pmi.org, as PMI updates pricing periodically.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing for PMI-CP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction teams, PMOs and leadership groups across Vaud and Switzerland. Contact us for a group quote tailored to your team.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. It uses single-answer and multiple-answer question formats set in realistic construction scenarios.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains: Contracts Management at 50 percent, Stakeholder Engagement at 30 percent, Strategy and Scope Management at 15 percent, and Project Governance at 5 percent, per the official PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you prepare thoroughly and reduce the fear of a retake.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You learn to manage construction contracts, change orders, claims and risk, engage owners, authorities and communities, control scope, schedule and budget, and establish project governance. The content maps to the four PMI-CP ECO domains plus exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training aligned to?

The training is aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide Eighth Edition, PMI's current project management standard. Construction industry practices are woven throughout so the learning reflects real project delivery.

Do I need construction experience to take the course?

Anyone can attend the training. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience, 35 contact hours of project management education, and completion of four mandatory self-paced modules. We guide you through these requirements.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question PMI format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned, which count toward the project management education PMI requires for the PMI-CP.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

The PMI-CP has two parts. First, complete all four mandatory self-paced modules. Second, meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?
