    What is the format of the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam is an online, open-book test of 50 multiple-choice questions taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. You have 60 minutes to complete it and no proctor is required.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    The passing score is 74%, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The open-book format and course practice make this achievable for prepared candidates.

    How many attempts do I get for the CSM exam?

    Candidates typically have three attempts to pass the CSM exam within 90 days of completing the course. If you do not pass first time, you can review and resit within that window at no fear of losing your progress.

    Do I need to attend a course before taking the CSM exam?

    Yes. Attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The Scrum Alliance online exam cannot be accessed until you have completed the course.

    What is the CSM exam based on?

    Do I need prior Scrum experience to take the CSM course?

    No. The CSM is designed for those new to Scrum as well as those wanting to formalise existing knowledge. There is no formal education or work-experience requirement, so beginners are welcome.

    How long is the CSM training?

    The programme runs for 16 hours, delivered either as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement for a CSM course.

    Which Scrum Guide edition is the course aligned to?

    The course is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the 2020 edition, alongside the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the Agile Manifesto, so you learn the framework as it stands today.

    What learning materials are provided?
