What is the format of the CAPM exam?

The CAPM exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023 and aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The exam has 150 questions and you have three hours (180 minutes) to complete it. Questions use single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The exam covers four domains from the 2023 ECO: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%).

Is there a fixed passing score for the CAPM exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Your result is set through psychometric analysis and reported against the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery across fundamentals, predictive, agile and business analysis content.

What if I do not pass the CAPM exam the first time?

You can take up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass on your first try.
