Is Kaizen training worth it for professionals in Kenya?

Do I need prior Lean experience to join?

No. There are no formal prerequisites and the course is open to all. Some familiarity with Lean is helpful but not required, because the training introduces the Kaizen philosophy, the PDCA cycle and the core tools from first principles.

How is Kaizen related to Lean and Six Sigma?

Kaizen is the continuous improvement engine within Lean and the Toyota Production System, and Kaizen events are often used in the Improve and Control phases of Six Sigma. It also complements Value Stream Mapping, which identifies where Kaizen events should be run.

Are there savings for training a whole team?

Assessment

Is there an exam for Kaizen training?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on workshop simulation, team activities and group discussion during the one-day programme, so you practise applying the method rather than sitting a test.

Do I receive a certificate after the course?

Yes. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. No external credential is awarded, as Kaizen is a methodology rather than a certification, but the skills you build are immediately usable at work.

How am I assessed during the programme?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, hands-on Kaizen event simulation exercises and team activities run throughout the day, letting you practise planning and facilitating an improvement event and apply the tools to realistic process scenarios.

Is Kaizen a certification?

No. Kaizen is a practical, non-certification skills course. There is no governing body or credential attached to the methodology itself, so the training focuses on building facilitation and continuous improvement skills you can apply straight away.

How can I show employers what I learned?

You leave with a course completion certificate and, more importantly, the ability to plan and run a Kaizen event, apply 5S and standard work, and lead root cause analysis. Demonstrating these skills on real workplace processes is the strongest proof of value.

Course Content

What topics are covered in the Kaizen training?

The course covers six modules: the Kaizen philosophy, the PDCA cycle and thinking tools, planning a Kaizen event, running a Kaizen event, Kaizen tools in practice, and sustaining improvements. It moves from concepts through to facilitating and embedding real improvement.

What tools will I learn to use?

You will learn PDCA, the Gemba walk, the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME), Muda, Mura and Muri, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, 5S, standard work, the spaghetti diagram, cycle time analysis and the Kaizen newspaper for tracking follow-up actions.

Is the training practical or theory-based?

It is highly practical. Hands-on workshop simulation exercises run throughout the day, so you practise the Kaizen event structure, waste identification and root cause analysis rather than only learning the concepts. Real-world examples support each topic.

How long is the Kaizen training?

The programme runs for one day, eight hours in total, and covers all six modules with concept explanations, examples and workshop simulation. It can also be delivered as two half-days to fit around work schedules.

Will this help with 5S and waste reduction at work?

Yes. 5S workplace organisation, standard work and waste identification are core parts of the course. You learn to apply them within Kaizen events and in daily work, which directly supports cleaner, more organised and more productive operations.
