Assessment

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

No. QFD training has no exam. Learning is reinforced through practical House of Quality construction exercises, Voice of the Customer and Kano activities, and team discussion throughout the one-day programme.

What will I receive on completion?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning confirming you have completed the Quality Function Deployment programme. It recognises the practical skills you have built rather than a formal external qualification.

How is learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead you build and interpret a real House of Quality during the session, apply the Kano model, and calculate design priorities, so you practise the method rather than sit a test.

Will I be able to apply QFD straight away?

Yes. By the end you can capture the Voice of the Customer, build a full House of Quality, prioritise engineering characteristics, and cascade requirements through the four QFD phases, ready to use on your next project.

Does QFD support Six Sigma work?

Yes. QFD is a core tool in Design for Six Sigma (the DMADV Measure phase) and the DMAIC Define phase. The course shows how to use it to translate customer needs into critical-to-quality characteristics within improvement and design projects.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD matrix. It links customer requirements to engineering characteristics, rates the strength of each relationship, benchmarks against competitors, maps design conflicts in the roof, and sets measurable engineering targets.

What are the four phases of QFD?

The four-phase QFD system cascades customer requirements through Product Planning (the House of Quality), Parts Deployment, Process Planning and Production Planning, creating a traceable link from the customer need all the way to production controls.

Is the training hands-on?

Very. You build a House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario, structure the Voice of the Customer with an affinity diagram, classify needs with the Kano model, and calculate design priorities as a team.
