How to Get PMP CertifiedStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMP certification path is designed for experienced project managers. You complete the required 35 contact hours, document your project leadership experience, apply to PMI, prepare with mocks and assessments, and schedule your exam through Pearson VUE. Once you pass, you join the global community of 1.2 million+ PMP-certified professionals.

    Step 1: Eligibility Check

Confirm you meet one of PMI's two pathways: a four-year degree with 36 months of project leadership experience, or a secondary degree with 60 months of experience. Both pathways require 35 hours of project management education.

    Step 2: Enroll

Select the learning format that best suits your schedule and goals, including online, instructor-led, and corporate PMP training for teams. Once enrolled, you gain access to courseware, schedules, and a structured study plan to earn the required 35 contact hours.

    Step 3: Attend Classes

Complete live instructor-led sessions or self-paced learning modules included in your PMP training course online or classroom-based program. Participate in case discussions and cover the PMP syllabus across the People, Process, and Business Environment domains, including predictive, agile, and hybrid project management approaches.

Step 4: Document Experience and Apply to PMI

Document your project leadership experience (36 or 60 months, depending on pathway) and submit your PMP application to PMI. Our team supports you with the application process and experience documentation.

    Step 5: Preparation

Use 1,500+ practice questions, 5 full-length PMP mock exams, 1 Agile model exam, flashcards, and the exam simulator to strengthen weak areas and build speed for the 180-question exam.

Step 6: Schedule and Take the Exam

Once your PMI application is approved, schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE test center or take it online, proctored. Take the 230-minute, 180-question PMP exam covering People, Process, and Business Environment.

Step 7: Pass and Get Certified

After passing, you receive your PMP credential and digital badge, valid for three years. Maintain certification with 60 PDUs across the three-year cycle (35 in Education, 25 in Giving Back).

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMP (Project Management Professional) is PMI's flagship credential and the global gold standard for project managers. It validates your ability to lead projects and teams using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches, and suits experienced project managers, team leads and delivery professionals.

    General

What is the PMP certification and who is it for?

The PMP (Project Management Professional) is PMI's flagship credential and the global gold standard for project managers. It validates your ability to lead projects and teams using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches, and suits experienced project managers, team leads and delivery professionals.

Is PMP certification worth it in 2026?

Yes. With a global project talent gap nearing 30 million professionals and PMP holders reporting a median salary premium of about 33 percent, the credential offers one of the strongest returns in professional development. It is recognised by employers in over 200 countries.

What are the prerequisites for the PMP?

There are two paths. With a four-year degree you need 36 months leading projects plus 35 contact hours of project management education. With a secondary diploma you need 60 months leading projects plus the same 35 contact hours, which this training provides.

Which standard and edition is the PMP based on?

The PMP is governed by PMI and aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the current PMP Examination Content Outline. About half the exam reflects agile or hybrid delivery, alongside predictive project management.

How long is the PMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMP is valid for three years. To keep it active, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, and report them through PMI's CCR system.

    Is the PMP recognised internationally?

Yes. The PMP is recognised in over 200 countries and is widely regarded as the global gold standard in project management. It appears in government procurement, client contracts and employer job specifications worldwide.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMP training fee?

Your fee includes PMI-aligned courseware built on the 8th edition, 35 contact hours, practice questions, mock exams, an exam simulator, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does the PMP exam cost?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 405 for members and USD 555 for non-members, though prices vary by region. PMI membership, about USD 139 a year, lowers the exam fee and includes free access to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition. Verify current fees at pmi.org.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The training fee and the PMI exam fee are separate. PMI bills the exam directly under regional pricing, and members pay less than non-members. Talk to a learning advisor about what your enrolment includes.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with tailored content and volume-based pricing for teams, PMOs and business units. Contact us for a group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the PMP on the first attempt?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period, and our practice questions, mock exams and simulator are designed to prepare you for a first-time pass. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts; confirm current amounts at pmi.org.

How many questions are on the PMP exam and how long is it?

The PMP exam has 180 questions and lasts 230 minutes, which is 3 hours 50 minutes, including two 10-minute breaks. It uses multiple-choice, multiple-response, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blank questions.

What are the PMP exam domains?

The updated exam, aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, tests five domains: Project Management Fundamentals (15%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (28%), Agile Frameworks (27%), Business Analysis and Strategic Management (18%), and Stakeholder Engagement and Communication (12%).

What is the passing score for the PMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Your result is set by psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement across the domains, so aim for broad mastery of the whole content outline.

Where and how do I take the PMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Once your application is approved, schedule it within your one-year eligibility window through the PMI or Pearson VUE portal.

Does the PMP exam cover agile?

Yes. About half of the exam reflects agile and hybrid delivery. The updated ECO includes a dedicated Agile Frameworks domain worth 27 percent, covering Scrum, Kanban, Lean and hybrid approaches alongside predictive methods.

    Course Content

Do I need prior experience to take the training?

You can join the training at any experience level, and it delivers the 35 contact hours the PMP application requires. To sit the exam, PMI expects documented project leadership experience, and we guide you through meeting and evidencing those requirements.

What topics does the PMP training cover?

The programme covers all five updated exam domains: project management fundamentals, predictive plan-based methodologies, agile frameworks, business analysis and strategic management, and stakeholder engagement, plus exam strategy and application support.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware built on the 8th edition, practice questions, mock exams, an exam simulator, downloadable templates, quizzes and flashcards, along with guidance on the PMP Examination Content Outline.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMP exam?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the current PMP Examination Content Outline, including the explicit predictive, agile and hybrid content split the exam now uses.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes hundreds of practice questions, full-length mock exams and an exam simulator that mirrors the 180-question format, helping you find weak areas and build exam readiness.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website, choose a live online, classroom or self-paced format, and get immediate access to schedules and courseware. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to pick your start date.
