What Is Design for Six Sigma Training?UntitledYour Route to First-Time Quality Design

The Design for Six Sigma Training in Slovenia is a one-day, non-certification skills programme that teaches you how to design new products, services and processes that meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality from the outset. Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) uses the structured DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) to design quality in, rather than fixing defects after launch the way DMAIC improves existing processes. You learn to capture the voice of the customer, translate it into measurable critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements, build a Quality Function Deployment House of Quality, select concepts with the Pugh matrix, run a Design FMEA, and apply robust design and design verification. These are the tools Slovenia's automotive, pharmaceutical, appliance and precision-engineering employers rely on to launch reliable products faster. Whether you are a design engineer, R&D professional or quality specialist, this DFSS course turns Six Sigma thinking into everyday design practice. Learn the methodology with Invensis Learning and start designing quality in from the start.

Why Slovenian Industry Needs Design-For-Quality Skills

    Export-Led Quality Pressure

Slovenia exports around 80% of GDP, and European buyers expect reliable products first time. DFSS helps engineers design Six Sigma quality in before a product ever reaches the customer.

    DFSS builds first-time-quality design skills

    Automotive Supply-Chain Standards

Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to Renault, Mahle and Kolektor must deliver Design FMEA and robust design under APQP and IATF 16949, the exact disciplines this course teaches.

DFSS builds DFMEA and robust design skills

    Pharma and Medical-Device Design Control

Krka, Lek and laser-device makers need structured design verification and validation to meet ISO 13485 and regulatory controls, where DFSS tools like DFMEA are essential.

    DFSS builds design verification skills

Deep in Improvement, Thin in Design

Many Slovenian engineers know DMAIC improvement but few apply DMADV to design quality in from the start, leaving a capability gap that DFSS training closes.

DFSS adds the design counterpart to DMAIC

    Innovation-Driven Growth Targets

Slovenia's Industrial Strategy 2021-2030 pushes new product development and higher value added per employee, raising demand for structured design methods like DFSS.

    DFSS supports new product development

    The Cost of Late Redesign

Fixing defects after launch costs far more than designing them out, so manufacturers adopt VOC, QFD and Design FMEA to catch issues in the design phase.

    DFSS builds upfront design-quality skills

The Design Skills You Will BuildApplying the DMADV Toolkit

This is what you will learn in the Design for Six Sigma course: the full DMADV toolkit applied to realistic product and process design scenarios. By the end of the one-day programme you can capture customer needs, translate them into CTQs, and design and verify quality in from the start.

    Run the DMADV Roadmap

Apply Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify to take a new product or process from customer need to a verified, launch-ready design, and know when to use DFSS instead of DMAIC.

Capture and Translate the Voice of the Customer

Use interviews, observation and the Kano model to capture the voice of the customer, then flow it down into measurable critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements across the design.

Build a Quality Function Deployment House of Quality

Translate customer requirements into engineering characteristics, weight them, set design targets and spot conflicts using the QFD House of Quality matrix.

Select Concepts and Run Design FMEA

Compare design concepts with the Pugh matrix and use Design FMEA with RPN scoring (severity, occurrence, detection) to prioritise and reduce design risk before launch.

    Apply Robust Design and Tolerancing

Use the P-diagram, Taguchi robust design thinking, design-of-experiments awareness and tolerancing to make designs insensitive to real-world variation and noise.

Verify, Validate and Transfer the Design

Plan verification and validation, track performance on a design scorecard, and hand a proven design over to production with confidence.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Training is a one-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to reach Six Sigma quality from the outset. It is for design engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and new-product-development managers.

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Training is a one-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to reach Six Sigma quality from the outset. It is for design engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and new-product-development managers.

Yes. Slovenia's export-driven automotive, pharmaceutical, medical-device and appliance manufacturers need engineers who can design quality in first time. DFSS tools such as QFD, Design FMEA and robust design are directly relevant to these employers and to APQP and ISO design controls.

DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) improves existing processes that are not meeting requirements. DFSS uses the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) to design new products and processes correctly from the start. This course covers DFSS and DMADV.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma concepts such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required, as the course introduces DFSS and the DMADV method from first principles.

The course follows the DMADV roadmap, the most widely used DFSS framework, and introduces the core design tools: voice of the customer, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, robust design and design verification.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma Training and who is it for?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Training is a one-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to reach Six Sigma quality from the outset. It is for design engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and new-product-development managers.

Is Design for Six Sigma worth it for professionals in Slovenia?

Yes. Slovenia's export-driven automotive, pharmaceutical, medical-device and appliance manufacturers need engineers who can design quality in first time. DFSS tools such as QFD, Design FMEA and robust design are directly relevant to these employers and to APQP and ISO design controls.

What is the difference between DFSS and DMAIC?

DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) improves existing processes that are not meeting requirements. DFSS uses the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) to design new products and processes correctly from the start. This course covers DFSS and DMADV.

Do I need prior Six Sigma experience to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma concepts such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required, as the course introduces DFSS and the DMADV method from first principles.

What methodology does the course follow?

The course follows the DMADV roadmap, the most widely used DFSS framework, and introduces the core design tools: voice of the customer, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, robust design and design verification.

    Pricing

How much does the Design for Six Sigma course cost in Slovenia?

Pricing varies by delivery mode (live online, classroom or corporate), group size and schedule, so course fees are available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a current quote for individual or group training.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six DFSS modules, hands-on tool exercises, courseware and learning resources, learner support, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Request a quote for full details.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group training with tailored content and schedules for engineering, R&D and quality teams. Ask about group pricing for your organisation.

Are there any exam or certification fees to budget for?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination, so there are no exam or awarding-body fees. You pay only the training fee for the format you choose.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and can discuss instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment And Certification

Is there an exam for the Design for Six Sigma course?

No. Design for Six Sigma Training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises, case-study examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, as none exists for this training.

How is my learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. You apply the DMADV tools to realistic design scenarios throughout the day, with exercises in VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA to reinforce the concepts.

Will this training make me a certified Six Sigma professional?

No. This is a practical skills course focused on the DFSS methodology and tools, not a certification. It complements Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt learning by adding the design counterpart, DMADV, to your toolkit.

How long is the training and how many hours does it cover?

The course is delivered in one day of eight hours, covering all six DFSS modules from the DMADV foundations through VOC, QFD, concept selection, Design FMEA, robust design and design verification, with tool exercises throughout.

    Course Content

What topics does the Design for Six Sigma course cover?

The course covers DFSS foundations and the DMADV roadmap, the Define phase (VOC and Kano), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept selection and Design FMEA), the Design phase (robust design and DFMA) and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

What tools will I learn to use?

You learn to use the DMADV roadmap, the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, the Quality Function Deployment House of Quality, the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA with RPN, the P-diagram and robust design, and the design scorecard.

Are there hands-on exercises in the training?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout the day, applying VOC to CTQ flow-down, QFD construction, the Pugh matrix and a Design FMEA worksheet to realistic product and process design scenarios.

Can beginners in design or quality take this course?

Yes. The course introduces all DFSS-specific tools from first principles, so professionals new to structured design methods can follow it. Basic Six Sigma awareness helps but is not required.

How does DFSS relate to APQP, ISO 9001 and ISO 13485?

DFSS tools such as Design FMEA, robust design and design verification support APQP in automotive supply chains and the design and development controls in ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, which is why regulated Slovenian manufacturers value the methodology.
