Understand Kanban and Put Pull-Based Flow to WorkUntitledA Hands-On Skills Programme

The Kanban Training in Australia is a practical, one-day skills programme that teaches you to manage the flow of work using Kanban, the visual pull-based method that began in the Toyota Production System under Taiichi Ohno in the 1950s. You learn how work is signalled, pulled and completed without overproduction, in both manufacturing and knowledge-work settings. Kanban has two proven applications, and this course covers both. On the factory floor it drives just-in-time pull production with kanban cards, supermarkets and system sizing. In software, IT and service teams it powers the Kanban board, work-in-progress limits and flow metrics, an approach formalised for knowledge work by David J. Anderson. Suited to operations, delivery, IT and improvement professionals across Australia, the training turns theory into on-the-job capability. You leave able to visualise a workflow, set WIP limits, measure lead time and cut delays. Start your Kanban journey with Invensis Learning.

Why Kanban Skills Are in Demand Across Australia

    Unpredictable Delivery

Australian IT and banking teams juggle heavy backlogs and shifting priorities, so delivery dates slip. Kanban limits work in progress and uses flow metrics to make delivery predictable.

Kanban builds flow and lead-time skills

    Overloaded Teams and Multitasking

When people carry more work than they can finish, context-switching wastes capacity. Kanban WIP limits force teams to stop starting and start finishing, protecting throughput.

    Kanban builds WIP-limit skills

    Lean Pressure in Operations

Manufacturers, logistics providers and miners face cost and inventory pressure. Kanban pull systems cut overproduction and excess stock by producing only against real downstream demand.

    Kanban builds pull-production skills

    Digital Skills Shortage

With a projected shortfall of 370,000+ digitally skilled workers by 2026, employers value people who improve delivery. Flow-capable professionals are scarce and sought-after.

Kanban makes flow-capable professionals stand out

    Scaling Agile Beyond Scrum

As enterprises scale Agile, pure Scrum cadences do not fit every team. Kanban and Scrumban give flow-based options for service, IT operations and support work within SAFe.

Kanban builds Scrumban and SAFe flow skills

    Strategy-To-Delivery Gaps

Leaders approve more work than teams can absorb, so priorities collide and value leaks. Kanban makes capacity and demand visible so organisations commit to what they can deliver.

The Kanban Skills You Will Put to WorkPractical Capability, Not Theory

The Kanban training builds practical capability across both manufacturing pull systems and Agile knowledge work. By the end of the programme, you can visualise a workflow, limit work in progress, measure flow and plan a Kanban implementation at work.

    Design Pull-Based Production Systems

You will learn how to design manufacturing Kanban pull systems, including production and withdrawal kanban, supermarkets and two-bin systems, so work is produced only against real downstream demand and overproduction is eliminated.

    Build and Run Kanban Boards

Design Kanban boards for software, IT and service teams with columns, swimlanes, classes of service and a clear definition of done, making the full workflow visible and creating pull-based, self-organising delivery.

    Set and Manage WIP Limits

Set work-in-progress limits that expose bottlenecks and stop teams overcommitting. You learn how to choose starting limits, adjust them from data and use the stop-starting, start-finishing discipline to protect flow.

    Size Kanban and Calculate Quantities

Calculate kanban quantities and the number of cards using takt time, demand, lead time and a safety factor, so a manufacturing pull system holds the right inventory and improves as variability falls.

Measure Flow with Lead Time and CFD

Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, apply Little's Law, and read the cumulative flow diagram to spot where work accumulates. You turn flow data into targeted, evidence-based improvement.

    Apply Scrumban and Sustain Kanban

Combine Kanban with Scrum in Scrumban, plan a low-risk rollout using the start-with-what-you-do-now principle, and sustain the system so WIP limits and improvement hold over time.

The Kanban Training is a one-day, non-certification skills programme that teaches you to manage the flow of work using Kanban. It covers manufacturing Kanban, such as pull production, kanban cards and supermarkets, and Agile Kanban, such as Kanban boards, WIP limits and flow metrics.

    General

    What is the Kanban Training?

The Kanban Training is a one-day, non-certification skills programme that teaches you to manage the flow of work using Kanban. It covers manufacturing Kanban, such as pull production, kanban cards and supermarkets, and Agile Kanban, such as Kanban boards, WIP limits and flow metrics.

Is Kanban only for software teams, or also for manufacturing?

Both. Kanban began in the Toyota Production System as a pull-based manufacturing method, and was later adapted for knowledge work by David J. Anderson. The training covers factory pull systems and Agile boards for software, IT and service teams.

Who should attend Kanban training in Australia?

It suits production and operations managers, continuous improvement specialists, supply chain professionals, Scrum Masters, Agile coaches, IT and software delivery managers, and project managers. Anyone who manages the flow of work through a production or delivery system will benefit.

Is Kanban worth learning in 2026?

Yes. With Agile delivery widely adopted and a projected shortfall of 370,000+ digitally skilled workers in Australia by 2026, employers value people who can improve delivery. Kanban is a fast, practical skill that applies across IT, banking, manufacturing and logistics.

Do I need prior Lean or Agile experience?

No. There are no prerequisites. The course introduces Kanban from first principles, so beginners can follow it, while some familiarity with lean or delivery work helps you get more from the manufacturing modules.

    Pricing

How much does Kanban training in Australia cost?

Pricing depends on the delivery format, group size and schedule. Individual and corporate options are available. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current pricing for your preferred format.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led sessions, structured courseware, hands-on Kanban design exercises, case examples, learner support and a course completion certificate. Confirm inclusions for your chosen format when you enquire.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer group training with schedules and pricing tailored to your team size and location. It is a cost-effective way to train an operations, IT or delivery team together. Ask about group pricing for a tailored quote.

    Are there discounts for teams?

Group and volume-based options are available when you train several people together. The right structure depends on team size and delivery format, so contact us for a quote that fits your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there a formal test in the Kanban training?

No. This is a practical skills course with no formal test. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Kanban design exercises, case examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Is the Kanban Training a certification?

No. Kanban has no single governing body and this course is not a certification. It is a practical skills programme grounded in the lean and Agile roots of Kanban, focused on capability you can apply at work.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that recognises your participation and the Kanban skills you have built.

How is my learning reinforced without a test?

Through practice, not exams. You work through push-versus-pull identification, kanban quantity calculation, loop and board design, WIP-limit setting and cumulative flow diagram interpretation, applying each concept to realistic scenarios.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to design a Kanban pull system or board, set and manage WIP limits, calculate kanban quantities, measure lead time and throughput, read a cumulative flow diagram, apply Scrumban and plan a Kanban rollout at work.

    Course Content

What topics does the Kanban training cover?

The syllabus covers Kanban origins and pull production, manufacturing kanban types and mechanics, system sizing and implementation, knowledge-work Kanban boards and WIP limits, flow metrics and the cumulative flow diagram, and sustaining Kanban over time.

Does it cover both manufacturing Kanban and Agile Kanban?

Yes. The course covers manufacturing Kanban, including production and withdrawal kanban, supermarkets, sizing and the six Kanban rules, and Agile Kanban, including boards, WIP limits, flow metrics, Scrumban and Kanban within SAFe.

What is a WIP limit and will I learn to set one?

A work-in-progress limit is the maximum number of items allowed in a workflow stage at once. It is the feature that makes Kanban more than a task board. You learn how to set starting limits and adjust them from flow data.
