    It covers Lean foundations and the Toyota Production System, the five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems and Kanban, Just-in-Time, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Lean culture.

    What are the eight wastes (DOWNTIME)?

    DOWNTIME stands for Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilised talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion and Extra processing. The course teaches you to spot each type on the shop floor through a structured waste walk and to prioritise it for elimination.

    Will I learn Value Stream Mapping and 5S?

    Yes. You learn to draw current-state and future-state value stream maps, calculate takt time and locate the bottleneck, and to apply the five steps of 5S with visual management. Both are practised through hands-on exercises during the day.

    Does the course cover OEE and TPM?

    Yes. You learn Total Productive Maintenance and how to calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness as Availability times Performance times Quality, interpret the result against world-class benchmarks, and use the six big losses to prioritise equipment improvement.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

    Yes. The programme runs practical activities throughout, including a Gemba-based waste walk, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, an OEE calculation, Kanban sizing and a standard work observation, so you can apply the tools right away.
