What Is 7 QC Tools Training and Who Is It For?UntitledA Practical Quality Toolkit

7 QC Tools training in Brunei is a practical, one-day skills programme that teaches the seven quality control tools every quality and process improvement professional should command. These tools, formalised by Japanese quality pioneer Kaoru Ishikawa in the 1960s, remain the foundation of quality management across ISO 9001:2015, Lean, Six Sigma and Total Quality Management. You learn to apply the Cause-and-Effect (Fishbone) Diagram, Check Sheet, Control Chart, Histogram, Pareto Chart, Scatter Diagram and Stratification or Flow Chart to real workplace problems. Each tool is taught through concepts, worked examples and hands-on exercises, so you leave able to trace root causes, reduce defects and improve processes from day one. The course suits quality engineers, production supervisors, process improvement practitioners and anyone supporting quality in Brunei's oil and gas, petrochemical, halal food and manufacturing sectors. Delivered in live virtual and classroom formats, it is hands-on throughout, and you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Start building quality skills your employer will value immediately.

Quality Challenges Shaping Brunei's Industrial Growth

    Downstream Complexity at Scale

Hengyi, Brunei Methanol and Brunei Fertilizer run complex, continuous processes where variation is costly. Control charts and histograms give teams the statistical process control to hold quality.

The seven tools build process control skills

    Export-Grade Halal Standards

The Brunei Halal brand and standards such as PBD 24:2007 and GMP demand documented, consistent quality. Check sheets, Pareto charts and control charts make that repeatable rather than reactive.

The tools turn compliance into routine

    Diversification Skills Gap

As Brunei builds a manufacturing base under Wawasan 2035, practical quality problem-solving skills are scarce. Teams trained in the seven tools close that gap fast with no statistical background needed.

The tools close the capability gap

    Defect and Cost Pressure

In a small, import-reliant economy, rework and waste hurt margins hard. Pareto and fishbone analysis focus limited resources on the vital few causes that drive most defects and cost.

The tools focus effort where it pays

    Reliability in Oil and Gas

Brunei Shell Petroleum and Brunei LNG operate to strict reliability standards. Control charts and stratification help teams detect special-cause variation early, before it reaches operations or customers.

    Upskilling the Local Workforce

Bruneianisation raises demand to develop local staff with tools that are hands-on and easy to adopt. Ishikawa designed the seven tools to be used by every worker, not only statisticians.

The Seven Tools You Will MasterApplied Skills for the Shop Floor and Beyond

This programme builds hands-on command of every quality control tool, taught through concept, worked examples and practice. By the end of the day you can select the right tool, apply it correctly and connect your findings to real corrective action.

    Cause-And-Effect (Fishbone) Diagrams

You will learn to apply all seven quality control tools to real problems. Start with the Ishikawa fishbone diagram, using the 6M framework (Man, Machine, Method, Material, Measurement, Environment) to map and drill down to the root causes of a defect or process failure.

    Check Sheets for Reliable Data

Design defect-location, frequency and cause check sheets that capture accurate, consistent data at the point where problems occur, giving every other tool a trustworthy foundation to work from.

    Control Charts and SPC

Build and read control charts to separate normal common-cause variation from special-cause signals, applying the Western Electric rules and understanding control limits versus specification limits.

    Histograms and Distribution Shape

Construct histograms and interpret their shape, whether normal, skewed or bimodal, to reveal a process's central tendency, spread and capability against specification limits.

Pareto Analysis and the 80/20 Rule

Apply the Pareto principle to rank causes and focus effort on the vital few that drive most defects, cost or complaints, and use before-and-after Pareto charts to prove your improvements worked.

    Scatter Diagrams and Correlation

Plot paired variables to test whether a suspected cause truly influences a quality outcome, calculate correlation strength, and understand why correlation alone does not prove causation.

    Stratification and Flow Charts

Separate data by machine, shift or supplier to expose hidden patterns, and map process flows to reveal bottlenecks, rework loops and non-value-adding steps that create quality problems.

    Choosing and Combining the Tools

Learn when to use each tool and how they work together in a quality investigation, moving from check sheet to Pareto chart to fishbone diagram to scatter diagram and control chart.

The tools are the Cause-and-Effect (Fishbone) Diagram, Check Sheet, Control Chart, Histogram, Pareto Chart, Scatter Diagram and Stratification or Flow Chart.

Who should attend this training in Brunei?

The course suits quality engineers, quality analysts, production supervisors, process improvement practitioners and anyone supporting quality in Brunei's oil and gas, petrochemical, halal food and manufacturing sectors. No prior statistical background is needed.

Is 7 QC Tools training worth it?

Yes. The seven tools are among the most widely used problem-solving methods in quality management, applied daily across ISO 9001, Lean and Six Sigma work. They make you more effective at cutting defects and improving processes, skills Brunei employers value as the economy diversifies. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your training.

Are the tools relevant to ISO 9001?

Yes. ISO 9001:2015 requires organisations to collect and analyse data on quality performance (Clause 9) and act on nonconformities (Clause 10). The seven QC tools are the core, practical methods recommended for meeting these requirements in an accessible way.

Who created the seven QC tools?

The seven quality control tools were formalised by Japanese quality pioneer Kaoru Ishikawa in the 1960s. He believed that around 95% of workplace quality problems could be solved using these seven accessible tools alone, which is why they remain foundational today.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this training?

No. This is a practical, non-certification course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on exercises and discussion during the programme, and you apply each tool as you go rather than sit a test.

    Do I receive a certificate?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. It records the practical quality skills you have built, which you can use at work immediately.

    Is this a formal certification?

It is a skills training course rather than a formal certification. The seven QC tools themselves are recognised worldwide in quality management, and the skills you gain apply directly across ISO 9001, Lean and Six Sigma work.

    How is my learning checked?

There is no formal assessment. You practise each tool on worked examples and realistic scenarios throughout the day, so you leave able to apply the tools confidently rather than pass a test.

Will this help me progress to Six Sigma?

Yes. The seven QC tools are foundational within the Six Sigma DMAIC method, so this training is a strong stepping stone towards Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt and other quality programmes available through Invensis Learning.

    Course Content

What will I learn in this course?

You will learn to apply all seven quality control tools: the Fishbone Diagram, Check Sheet, Control Chart, Histogram, Pareto Chart, Scatter Diagram and Stratification or Flow Chart. Each is taught with concepts, worked examples and hands-on practice so you can use them at work.

    How long is the training?

The course runs for one day (8 hours), covering all seven tools with explanation, worked examples and practical exercises. An extended format delivering the same 8 hours across two half-days may also be available.

Do I need prior quality knowledge?

No. The course covers each tool from first principles and needs no statistical background, in line with how Ishikawa designed the tools to be usable by everyone. Some familiarity with quality concepts is helpful but not required.

    What materials are provided?

You receive course materials and worked examples for each of the seven tools, plus practice exercises you can reuse at work. Delivery is instructor-led throughout, with time to practise every tool during the programme.

How do the tools work together?

The course shows a practical workflow: collect data with a check sheet, rank causes with a Pareto chart, find root causes with a fishbone diagram, test relationships with a scatter diagram and monitor results with a control chart.
